I got started around last June shooting the .22lr BR at 100 yards...I like using the 3/4" stick-on spots & they are available in all colors...these dots are availlable in all sizes up to 3", I think? You can use whatever size at whatever yardage that fits your bill. Start larger and work down in size if you like...I use 8.5" x 11" cardstock paper for clean holes that can be measured fairly accurately. Targets made this way are pretty cheap.

The objective (that I've NOT achieved yet) is to get my rifle, the ammo & equipment tuned so I can eventually average 1/2" groups @100 yards...BUT...unless I am hitting what I am aiming at, I consider the group a fail.

I shoot at home alone and for me, the fun in shooting is to try to learn to shoot & judge the wind with precision...just banging at steel or plinking off beer cans doesn't hold my interest. Well, I suppose it could but I'd need a much longer range than I have & would still need precision but I am maxed out at 100 yards.
