Page 593 of Speer #13 load manual. Shot shell load data for the 38/357, 44 special, and 44 magnum is listed there. Does anyone have a copy of that reloading manual that they can scan that page or make a xerox copy and send it to me please.

here's unique and bulls eye
38---357, unique. 5.5gr. bullseye. 4.5gr
44spl. unique 6.7gr none for bullseye, hp38-5.8gr
44mag. unique 6.8gr. bullseye 6 gr
I have several bottles of Unique. That will work. I wonder if you can use Green dot or red dot ... I have that powder also. I have 3 12 gauge shells with 9 shot in them. That size 9 shot is what I will use for the shot capsules. Interesting that there is only a 10th of a grain difference between .44 special and.44 magnum.

Remember with pistol shot shell there is a point when to much powder just blows the shot pattern apart and you gain little from increased velocity.
I have experimented a good deal with shot cartridges. I found that the best patterns (and effectiveness) came using #12 size shot. It can be difficult to find and a bit expensive but worth it. Getting a buddy or two to order together helps with the cost. Ballistic Products is where I bought my #12.
I have used them on snakes a good bit. They also work well on rats and mice in a barn. The fine shot minimizes any possible damage to the building inside. They work well on pigeons inside also.
Just a thought or two.

The no.12 shot really is worth it to make snake hamburger.
A larger amount of no. 9 will do in a pinch at closer range, but the no.12 is tops also for rats,mice and are slightly less dangerous as rickochettes and bounce back and also won't destroy background of target.
Back inn the day, I did a LOT of backpacking in rough country. The #12 shot minimizes "backsplatter" as Alferd states from hard, rocky ground where snakes are often found. Plus, it is just more effective at close range (the place where poisonous snakes are dangerous!).

I load all my shot loads in 44 Special and 38 Special cases. That way they can be shot in a 38/357 or 44 spl/mag. Oddly, CCI used to make them in 44 mag, but you will see all the factory 44 shotshells are now specials as well. That way they fit more stuff.
