Help with some hardcast load data in 10mm

I am loading 10mm ammo for my 4.6" S&W M&P.

I'm going for a woods/animal defense load. This is the pistol I have, nothing bigger.

I don't see any data in my manuals for a 200 grain hard cast, gas checked.

Does anybody have any data available, or a range to work in? I'm using Longshot and I also have Power Pistol and HP-38, and possibly some other powders in a box somewhere

USe starting data for jacketed & work up. A chrono is a good idea. I find you will need slightly smaller powder charges to reach the same vel as jacketed. Forget HP38, too fast for best vel. PP works ok, but best bet is Longshot, BlueDot, AA#7 or my fav, AA#9 for max vel at lowest pressures. Hodgdon data:

Thank you! I wasn't sure where to start. I do have a little bit of AA#9.

If you dont get the accuracy you like, try the coated ones. Though a gc is helpful, with coated, just not required, plus save some $$. Hopefully you bought 0.401 or 0.402.

My box says .400, so I'm guessing these are wrong? I saw bullets like these: https://rimrockbullets.com/xcart/10m...p-per-500.html
They are sold at .400, so I thought that size would work. I've had a tough time getting much info about loading hardcast. This is the first time for me, I've always loaded jacketed stuff.

Who do you recommend for coated hard cast? I'm not set up for casting, and being in school full time, I'm not sure I have time for right now.

You can see on their website you can select bullet dia. With the gc 0.400 may work fine, the gc will be like the jacketed bullet base, maybe. Lead or coated lead always want to be 0.001" min larger than jacketed as a rule. Montana BW makes a really good bullet but not cheap for practice ammo. I make my own, but you could try Missouri for cheaper or go to coated from MBW.

I load range scrap, plain based 200gr over longshot. Powdercoated. They are screamers and zero leading.
