The greatest man
I'm writing this just after my dad drew his last breath. Alzheimers took him fairly quick; he's been in hospice care for the last two weeks.
I've worked for and met many rich and important people in my life but none will ever hold a candle to the Dust Bowl and Depression raised man who raised four boys and one girl with the help of my wonderful mother.
He served as a nurse at the army hospital in San Antonio during the Korean War. After that, a full time cattle farmer- first dairy; then beef only thank goodness!
He was strong as a bull or gentle as a lamb depending on the situation.
I'm sure that God is telling him "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
As Mom and his buddies show him around heaven.
Peace be with you all this morning.
God is great.

Sorry to hear of your loss and prayers for you and your family. Lost my Sister to the same disease, earlier in the year, after a 7 year battle.

I too will offer my sincere condolences. My Dad was raised during the Depression. He was a WWII Vet. Parkinson's & Alzheimer's took him as well, when he was 80.
Your brief description of your father reflected a lot of how my Dad was.
I find myself missing him more than my Mother. My Dad was a great man in my eyes as well.
My you & yours find peace in the Lord. May your Dad RIP.

Words in consolation for the loss of a loved one don't come easily. I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your father, a good man. It is a blessing, really, that he passed so soon and avoided what could have been a lengthy battle with the terrible ordeal of Alzheimer's. I believe that when next you meet he will be perfect in all ways, and you will again enjoy his presence and friendship. I'll pray that God will console your family in your time of loss. Time will take away some of the pain, but the good memories will remain.
