Yeah remembering to check the reservoir will be important. I'll set it up where i see it as soon as i walk in.
I went to a pool supplier and got anhydrous calcium chloride used for pools, it is the active ingredient in damp rid and cost less there, it was a 50lb bag that I keep in a sealable bucket.
you do not want anhydrous any where you will be, its a poison if it becomes gaseous. you can get plain calcium chloride from any concrete company in bulk.
The little dehumidifier came today. It's been on a few hours. And there is water in the tank already. It is lighted too. Makes it easy to see the water.
GONRA suggests - BNE - get a small electric dehumidifer and
(if possible) run drain into your basement French drain.
I went to my local craft store (Michael's) and picked up a package of flower dessicant which is just Silica gel and put it in an old sock, I hung it in the safe making sure it doesn't touch any gun parts, same thing that is sold at a great markup, got a few pounds for around $8.
Im liking the little dehumidifier. Im thinking about getting a bigger one for our living area. It should help the ac run more efficient.
