Came across this by accident. I have a mid 60’s Sako so found this pretty interesting. Especially around 8:30 minutes into the video when they discuss the barrel making process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GVNo3OVwTE

Have a Sako 75 in 30-06. Very accurate rifle. Frank
I have collected SAKO's for years. I got my first L61 Finnbear in 7mm Rem. Mag. in 1967 and have got to say that it is one of the most accurate guns I own. It can't hold a candle to my SAKO 6mm-PPC USA though...
I’ve always admired Sako guns. If I buy a new modem rifle, it will be a Sako.
An object of my desire, and what may be my retirement rifle, is their model 85 Mannlicher Bavarian Carbine in 30-06. Somehow, some day, this will be mine.
I lucked out, my mid-60’s L 61 7mm Mag still has the Sako hang tag. Best I’ve shot it was a three round cloverleaf with all holes overlapping at 150 yards. Don’t think I could do it now, the crosshairs are so fine I can barely see them.

I had one in .244 Remington similar to that one.
We still have a round top Sako and two Tikka T3 rifles.
Great guns!

My T-3 is more accurate than I am.
Slim
Everyone in the family, who own a farm I hunt, uses a tikka. I wanted to pick up a .270 win and decided to get a tikka superlite stainless.
Of course they come with a 3 round flush fit mag so my very first 2 groups were only 3 rounds, with a randomly chosen handload.
Guess I'll be buying more tikkas

I think I would go with 6.5 x 55 Swede.
#2 son bought a Tika ultra light in 6.5 Creedmore. Worked at Cabelas at the time and got some premium Federal ammo. Regularly shot 1/2 MOA. bought a bunch more of that ammo. He won't let me buy dies. As long as he just uses it as his main hunting rifle he has close to a lifetime supply. At the time he was shopping for a Tika ultra light in 7-08. Used one showed up When the 6.5 appeared. He shot the 6.5 first and promptly gave the 7-08 to his brother. Both my sons are very happy with their Tikas.
Every person I know that has a Sako or Tika is happywith them. Th old Sakos had a bevel scope mounting platform hat only used Sako bases, I imagine Sako gave up on that design idea. My early L Series Vixen Sako has such a scope mounting setup. As a 222 that little Vixen is a real shooter with an action slick a grease on a door knob.
My Tika 30-06 will easily shoot 1/2” groups at 100 yards with my handloads with 165 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips.
All these how-we-make-our-guns videos leave me cold. They never show any cutting tool, never describe how a cut is made, never mention what type of steel is used, etc. It's just "here's the raw material and here's how it looks after we machine it. Aren't we wonderful?"
