They do look kind of odd on a fresh water lake.
On a deep lake, we'd set out lights and fish for crappie & sand bass until about 2 AM.
Then set out one or two of the 209s and go to sleep.
It was a good system.
Our lake here is sort of shallow. I'll set out two with big sinkers, and drift away a hundred yards or so, then anchor down.
We then fish straight down with minnows for crappie.
I bought a 309 for snagging last year, but changed my mind and wanted a spinning reel. Got a battle 3 since penn reps told me it would hold up to abuse.
Now i use my 309 on my backup snagging rod for catfish. Im not gonna be that guy that catches a state record and has to bring it in on an ultralight.
