These are on my Ruger Bisley 41 Mag. I made them from a nice piece of dark-heart maple I found at Home Depot. I made several mistakes but hopefully I learned enough to do a better job next time. Special thanks to eskimo36 (on single actions site) for sending me a pdf full of great tips.

Looks good. I started a set several years ago for my 1911. I might just have to see if I can find them.

Great looking wood and a great fit. You took a great gun and made it even better. My gunsmith friend had a huge box of very nice wood that could be turned into grips and stocks.
Brother, if that is your first attempt I suspect you could get into the business pretty quick. Those look great!
Nice job! My pops bought a Ruger single Six with the spare Magnum cylinder way back before I was around and made some grips out of curly maple. He also made a nice leather hoster and ammo belt. It is a nice gun and those nice figured grips give the gun a lot of character.

Wow! Great looking grips. I just have a thing for curly maple. They just look "right" on a sixgun. Well done, and excellent for a first try!

Looks a little like the grips I put on a Virginia dragoon that I bought for a song some years back.... The grips were cracked, and replacements aren't available. Just happened to have some high figure maple on hand and went to work on it. I accidentally made the palm side panel too thick, and wouldn't you know it, it worked out perfectly! I made a palm swell grip by accident! Looks good, and for a 44 magnum, the swell makes it a pussycat to shoot! My son has put dibs on that gun when I die!
Made these from bocote for my new SBH 480. The factory grips were the worst I've ever seen, so this was necessary. I'll take it out again this week and see how they feel.

Well, they fit fine, but I'm still figuring things out. I think more practice will eventually lead to a more exact fit.
The grips look great! I love the maple but I prefer birds eye, just like the look! Any chance of getting that PDFs? Tim :bigsmyl2:
