I'm 69 years old and got my first .22 at the tender age of twelve (I already had a Colt target revolver, but that's another story). I lavished much care on that little gun, carefully cleaning, oiling and storing it after each use. Of course I used Hoppe's for bore cleaning exactly as my father taught me, and still do. So, now the question:
Is it pronounced "Hops" like the ingredient in beer, or
"Hoppeees" with emphasis on the "e" sound?
Great minds need an answer...............:)
In my 66 years I've only heard it pronounced Hoppeees.
Our experiences are identical, although I'm 76. It's pronounced the second way. Same as Hopalong Cassidy's nickname, Hoppy. If it belonged to Hoppy it would be Hoppy's. I've still got my age 12 .22 rifle, still in great shape.

Several years ago, Shooting Times had an article on how to pronounce various shooting related names. After that, I heard Leupold pronounced correctly.
It's pronounced hops round here but consider where I'm from.

I confess that I have heard maybe 1 out of 10 people pronounce it as "hops". BUT, a couple of years ago I phoned the manufacturer to inquire about using regular No.9 in place of No. 9 specifically forumulated as a black powder solvent, (No..) and they pronounced it as I've stated above.
It seems to me from readings of the distant past that Hoppe is a name of Irish origin, and although not common one can occasionally run across someone bearing that name. Look in some of the larger phone books. Anyway, as indicated, one can phone the manufacturer and ask them about it. Either way, I'm certain they'll be happy to learn that you use their product.
I remember that Tom Gresham, the gun guy who used to (and maybe still does) have a radio show, had a sound bite about being a private eye who was visited by a prospective lady client. There was something about her..... After she left he realized that he never should have let her go, as her perfume was Hoppe's No. 9.
Have always said Hops when referring to Hoppes.
Hoppees is how I've always heard it said by anyone in my area .

Yeah, Hoppeeees is my vote, but I have only lived in Texas, New Mexico, Alabama (two years), Arkansas (one year) Those good folks in Alabama were all excited by talkin about Green Trout and I was getting excited to learn of another species and shucks, found out they were talkin about Black Bass all the time.
It's like beer, in some countries it is pronounced beeeerrrrr, in Australia, we call it "aiming fluid"! :kidding::kidding:
Hermann Hesse's name is pronounced "Hess-ah" therefore Hoppys is pronounced "Hopp-ahs"

As far a Leupold I’ve always pronounced it phonetically as “Lou Pold”
Sworeoffski, Zice, Loopold, Socko, Tickuh, Packmeyer, Blahzer, Stire, Mowzer.

Nearly 65 and have always heard & used the Hoppy’s pronunciation, still have me first 22 as well. A 69’ Vintage Remington Model 66 in Mohawk Brown that was built in November, I got in on my Birthday in December :drinks:
When I was a young man working for the Wisconsin DNR, I worked with another young man who's last name was Hoppe. We became good friends and I met his father who was born and raised in Germany. When I asked him about his last name of Hoppe, he said that it was pronounced "Hoppee" with hard emphasis on the "pee". Mr. Hoppe said his name was not that common in his native Bavaria, Germany.

This reminds me of the old Benny Hill show where Benny and his wife arrive in Hawaii and are arguing if its pronounced "Hawaya" or "Havaya" in their accent. So, they ask the little old guy who is walking by is it Hawaya or Havaya and he says "Havaya" and Benny is all proud like told you so. He then tells the little guy Thank you and the little guy says "Your Velcome". lol

Hops it's a southern thang. Hoppes on the other hand sounds kinda,well girly.
