This morning I almost forced that red container apart while sizing some PC'd boolits. I've dumped it twice before and thought I'd keep a better eye on it…so much for that idea!
Then that little voice in my head said…"Hey Dummy!"
I said…"What?"
It said…"Put a rubber band around that dang thing!"
I said…"Duh! Why didn't I think of that!"

Good idea, I've filled it to bursting a few times before.
The little voice in your head is more helpful than mine... mine always tells me things like "go ahead she won't mind" or "long term it is an investment".

While it might be a bit of messing around setting it up, the upside-down press is just sooo much better for sizing - quicker, fingers are out of the way and the boolits just drop down.
(My little voices are obviously better trained - they rarely call me dummy :smile:).
The spring is just a little bit wider than the post and its about 3/16'' or a bit less taller. Just tall enough to catch the base of the boolit to keep it pretty much centered on the post without holding it w/fingers. Goes really fast just dropping them there and 'let her rip'.
The only thing that holds your speed up is 'how fast can you grab those little slick willies' that are powder coated, especially little tapered 9mm's.
Try to find the smallest/thinnest wire you can get to allow it to collapse completely under the die.

So why not ... I get out my calipers - measure the width of the post & length - write down measurements on a piece of paper - go to the hardware store - pull out the springs box - read the measurements on the box label and buy the one that fits the measurements on the paper.Quote:

I use the rubber band to keep the lid on my Lee hand priming tool tray. I have had it come loose many times and spill the primers before I started using the rubber band.

As long as the spring 'just' slips over the post…good nuff…keep it thin so it will collapse under the die…don't let it stick up too high.Quote:

Yes…the spring acts like a corral for the boolit… the underside of the die is cone shaped and all the boolit needs to do is come up within that cone and the nose of the boolit will shove itself over and center up by itself…I just don't want to keep my fingers in there too long.Quote:

Jes take a bullet and the sizer ram and put it in yer pocket. When you happen to go by a hardware store jes find a spring that the bullet will fit in and a bit longer than the ram...

Yes, I too have heard those voices before, but mine said throw that bottle away and invert the press so the bullets just drop into the die and get pushed out directly out the bottom into the storage cans. I listened and did that.
Then the voices said, "this is too much work" so why don't you make the press operate with a push of a button, so I did that too.

You could make your own spring. Just need some thin wire, wrap it around the punch until desired length, and trim it off. It doesn't have to be perfect, its just holding the boolit inside for alignment.

I use Ram Chucker to do a lot of the otherwise labor intensive operation of a single stage press like push through sizing powder coated bullets, bulge busting cases, etc. Most bullet sizing is done with about 40 psi of pressure. I can't keep up the pace for a long time, but I can size 30+ bullets in a minute. Ram Chucker never gets tierd, but I do.
