What is your favorite powder for pistol/revolver and reduced rifle loads, and why?
It was named Unique because its burning rate allowed it to be used in a wide variety of loads. I've used it to load 38 spl. thru 12ga and 7.5 grs. behind a 240 gr. 44 boolit gives be exceptional accuracy.
My #1 choice is Bullseye, I use it in all of my pistol and revolver loads. I also use it extensively in reduced rifle loads. Unique would be my second choice.
I like trail boss. You can essentially load anything with it.. and it loads volumetrically.
2400 meters well, great for my 357 ,308 with cast and now I'm using it in my 45-70 .cleaner burning than unique too.
Unique. Because I've been using it for 50 years and hope I'm familiar with how it's going to act in a large variety of rifle, handgun and shotgun cartridges. Given a correct load I've never been disappointed with its results.
2400 for me. Couldn't live without it.
Bullseye in pistole and reduced rifle loads. I have always wanted to try c e Harris load of red dot and 24000 in 30 cal reduced loading but the bullseye works so good I haven’t tried it yet
I can't just pick one so I like red dot / unique .
UNIQUE for most everything, but I prefer Trailboss for .45-70, with TITEGROUP bringing up the rear.
HS6 is what I can easily get and works in many cartridges.
17.5 grains of 2400 has been a very useful load for me. It is superbly accurate in my 30-30's under a 311-465 or 312 440. It also does good things in my .303 Savage 1899 with a 311-291. It is very accurate with a 429-241 in 44 mags, and works well in the 45 long colt with a 250ish grain boolit. 14.5 grains works for my 357 and also works fine in 44 Special. I use Unique as well, but 2400 is better in rifle cartridges for mid-range loads.
hp-38 is what i'm currently using and you couldn't get a better metering powder in my opinion.
When I could not get 2400 I tried Enforcer works better in some cases. Best with 44 mag heavy boolits meters like silk.
you need an "all of the above" choice.
ETR7 (Spanish CSB-1) - when it was available and if you have some. I'm working off 16 lbs
UNIQUE!

Some great answers here.
I've already stated in another thread that I would choose 2400 as my one powder for everything, if I could only have one. That includes full power rifle loads, or at least close enough to work with. For example, the first Lee load book shows 2300 fps loads with both 150 and 165 grain jacketed bullets and 2400 in .30-06. Sure the '06 is capable of more, but that load can get it done if you do your part.
For this thread though, I've thrown out full power rifle loads. So for that, I'll take something faster. Red Dot has been my go-to for this kind of load. Bullseye works just as well, though. Maybe even better. But that's arguable. The bulkiness of Red Dot is definitely an advantage for this type of load, especially in reduced rifle loads.
Titegroup for me. I use it in my pistol loads and my reduced 7.62x54 loads.
It's easy to find and I have a few pounds of it. Meters nicely other than the static, it sticks to the powder hopper.
2400 sweet and accurate in the 06 - love it
BUT
my handguns are split 50/50 BE / RD
Trail Boss. Because it works.
God Bless, and One Love.

For decades it was Red Dot for me, but TiteGroup is now taking that spot due to better metering, especially in low charge weights for the likes of .380 ACP.
I use most of the powered listed, but Bullseye is definitely my go to.
Titegroup but has limitations( still work in progress)
Unique used right is outstanding.
2400 a bit fussy to high or to low.
Red dot or imr red outstanding in certain calibers and is effective in the lowest loadings.
Bullseye, got a pound just haven't tried it yet.
Be well
Unique, used in shotgun, rifle or pistol.
2400 is all i need.
I do a lot of plinking and informal target shooting and Unique is the can I reach for.
Another vote for HS6!
Magnum revolver and some small cased rifle
Three44s
If I could have only one, it'd be Unique. I use Bullseye for most of my light pistol loads. I use Unique for the mid range. I use Red Dot for reduced rifle loads. I haven't got around to experimenting with Red Dot in pistol because Unique and Bullseye work for me.
Depends on the application. I checked Bullseye because I shoot 1500 rounds of 45 ACP per month with it, but sometimes I load lots of 44 Magnum. My "favorite" then becomes H110 or 2400.
2400 and 4227 for reduced rifle loads.

Is there a way to add the other powders readers not on the original list that readers say they use? It might be interesting to see the up-and-coming powders trend.
Have to go with Unigue with Trail Boss a close second. The difference is that the case capacity for Trail Boss is limited due to its VMD giving Unigue the edge in overall versatility.
Fail to find the powder you mention ...Quote:
What's the difference between that and CSB-1M?
