I’m a fan of Ruger, but that is ugly.
^^^ Ditto!
Hope it functions better than the Camp series.
If it works and weighs less than 6lbs I'd try it. Ain't gonna pay more than $300 for it tho. Todd/3leg
I also hope it is built better than my camp 9,i love the marlin but the gun is subject to come apart at any time especially the trigger group. I just like the idea of a non-ar pcc.
A beauty pageant winner is isn't but its definitely interesting! Honestly may have to take a peek at one. MSRP is maybe a little steep though. Smart if them to make it Glock mag compatible, thats always a bonus.
It ain't Kel-Tec ugly though!
I'll be buying one, even if they're $500.00
ETA - It's 6.8 pounds, so only slightly lighter than the Police Carbine. I assume that means they're using the same heavy slide as the Police Carbine. I'm guessing they're going to be extremely reliable, as is/was the PoPo carbine. I can already see a lot of improvements over the predecessor though.
the just right carbine takedown is still my pick but i like the ruger's iron sights.
:)
Yeah, its ugly, but, no more ugly than any other 'new' gun with plastic stock, dull finish, crappy iron sights, picatinny slots, one-size-fits-all stock, knurled muzzle, and goofy magazine well.
Other than that, I am sure it is a fine item.
With the advent of Savage Axis, cheap Remington rifle, cheap Mossberg rifle, and so on, it seems that anything 'new' equates to UGLY.
I just do not have a use for it and it is UGLY
I have the Beretta Cx4 in 9mm and love it.

Can use my magazines from 92f. I have a Marlin camp in 45 and have shot the 9mm. I love Marlins but this gun is a blast for me.
Comes with an adapter to use Glock mags? Sign me up, I'm going to start a special savings envelope for one. Thank you Ruger for not making it use another obscure/fits nothing else magazine!!
They are already showing up for pre-order for $519.00 with free shipping.
I will buy one. And I am sure that a .45 ACP version is next.
I would really like one in 10 mm or .460 Rowland but I am getting way ahead of myself.
I love my Hi Point in 9mm also.

My camp-9 has been 100% reliable for me, but I know some people have less luck. When Ruger releases this in .45, I'll buy one.
Being a south paw, I like the ambidextrous design.....the reason I purchased a CZ Scorpoin EVO carbine. I'm not a Glock owner or Ruger SR series,so either magazines aren't a selling point for me. The CZ comes with two twenty rounders and thirty rounders can be had for @ $20. CZ isn't a take down but has a folding stock that doesn't block the ejection port .......... it can be fired when folded.
Beretta Storm was less expensive but magazines are limited to 15 rounds with no larger capacity mags, available. Don't have a Storm pistol, so again, not advantageous for me.

I don't think it looks that bad. And I can't remember buying a gun based only on its looks. If the price comes down some, I'll definitely buy one. Been wanting a 9mm carbine. Good home defense weapon with the redundancy of using the same mags as your pistol? I like that idea. A lot.
just about all the pistol carbines are ugly. Only ones I don't think are are the AR15 based versions but then some think AR's are ugly too. At that price it should have a street price of around 500 bucks. If it runs even close to as well as the original ruger carbines did it will be well worth it. Got me waiting now. I was going to my a kel tech .40 but I think ill wait until ruger chambers this in .40. So buy a bunch of them guys so ruger will consider 40s and 45s and even 10mms. Almost looks to me like a new barrel assembly and bolt and you could have it with glock mags in both 9mm and 40. Wouldn't even have to change the mag well.
No Ruger bashing here. Although it does look like they tried to do a "Lets beat Hipoint Carbines for Ugly" contest.
Price is my sticking point.

Yes I could buy two Hipoints for the same money.
True the ruger does take down for easy packing.
True the ruger does have mag well inserts and glock mags. Which IMO is the only thing that justify's that price point.
So it comes down to personal preference.
My preference is I like saving money and I like my Hipoints.
Now if they had one in .38 special I might be tempted.
Winelover - There are 20 and 30 round magazines available for the Beretta CX4 Storm carbine.
I have a Storm and it's a great firearm. I went to the range with a friend one day. He had a Just Right cafrbine and I had my Storm. I let him shoot the Storm. The next day he sold the Just Right and ordered a Storm.
I have two Storm carbines
Very happy with them
Waiting for the extra $$$ to send them to Sierra Papa
Ok i said that i have no uses for it but it might be fun with this http://www.glockstore.com/Glock-9MM-50RD-Drum-Magazine
For what the gun is meant to do, pretty isn’t that important to me. But reliability is paramount.
If it has a halfway decent trigger, I am interested and $525 street price is what I pay for a Glock. Seems like a fair price to me.
If it shoulders right, I will likely buy one. Nice self defence carbine and a fun plinker with cheap brass. With about the same performance as a .357 from a revolver, it would be able to take deer at 50 yards or so.
For SHTF, having the same magazines as the Glock is an advantage.
I'm neither for or against Ruger. I buy what makes since to me regardless of who makes it. I have a Hi Point 9mm carbine that has been a decent truck gun for the farm. Certainly no Range Queen but it does what it was designed to do. I hope Ruger does well with its new offering and look forward to seeing it in other calibers. It seems to me that Taurus tried a Carbine a few years ago that died a quick and ugly death. Maybe Ruger will go better.
Interested to see what's going to happen to the price of Ruger Police Carbines. They've been selling for $700.00+ for a long time now.
it might effect the price of the marlin camp carbines as well
I've never cared for a 9mm. But if Ruger decides to make one in a 45 ACP that takes 1911 mags, I'll be getting one.
For the difference in price I'll keep my Hi Point that has eaten every type of ammo I have fed it especially 105 swc. It also looks every bit as good as that Ruger does.
It's as good looking as a mass produced/plastic stock rifle can be. I *think* the poor serfs in the Stalinist kingdoms of CA, NY, and NJ might be able to buy the version without the threaded muzzle so that is a plus. Hopefully the commies won't notice and ban them. Kudos to Ruger for giving it real sights and not just the picatinny rail. I've already started a secret savings account in my desk at work!
I like it. But I'd rather have it in .40 S&W, or .45ACP.
I have a Taurus CT40, its a great carbine, although a little on the big side.

The take-down feature sold me!
I see the Camp 9's are much maligned here but I love mine . Heavy ..adding to bench accuracy and mine has been unfailing with no problems at all . I keep hearing the buffer needs be replaced but after years of use I can't justify replacement . Camp 9 is wood and steel , a more 'traditional' rifle and I shoot it more than any other for plinking ..it's cheap to shoot .
Some want the more 'space age' carbines and that's great ! But I'll defend the Camp 9 .
I must admit to a time when I bought a couple of guns because of their looks(Diana grade Browning Broadway). That was a long time ago and I value function more than looks now.
I will wait until I see some user reviews and make my decision then.
Give us an inch and we want a mile :)
Like Loyd I think a 10mm would be real interesting.
9mm is just fine with me. Shouldn't be any special trick to squirt a Lee 358-125-RF out at 1500 fps or so, faster than most .357 revolver boolits. Modest powder charges and endless buffet of free range brass to feed it from Glock mags and we have a winner!
If I can get one for 450, ill take it. I have 18 Glock mags laying around for a G19 and G17 and have had the itch to build a PSA AR9. But a takedown 9mm rifle with good irons and Glock compatibility AND the ability to take it to the LGS if something goes wrong for warranty work is a no brainer for me. I want.
They were smart. They made it so that it takes Glock mags. Look wise, I've seen 9mm carbines that looks much worse. I'd buy it for the right price (under $400).
