Shooting buddy bought this one from a mutual friend and doesn't need it, I figure he bought it with me in mind. Been kicking around a Shiloh Sharps but my dream gun has been on my wish list for over a year. I like the Shiloh offerings but I feel the C Sharps rifles are more faithful to the originals. The gun I've spec'd out is a 45-70, the C Sharps rile is a 45-90. I have brass, dies and moulds for both. The Shiloh gun I spec'd out is a bit fancier than the C Sharps but I think that aspect may have kept me from pulling the trigger on that fancy rifle. Other than that this C Sharps gun is pretty much what I'm looking for. I figure I can dabble with this gun for awhile and order the Shiloh gun if I want to at a later time. I can get my money back on this C Sharps gun if I decide to sell it. I'm not a huge fan of the Sharps but the 1874 brought me to the CB fold so it will always be a special rifle for me.
Suggestions? My present 1874 is a Pedretti & Sons and it's been a challenge, to say the least. I've gotten pretty good at modifying and installing mainsprings but would rather move on to load development. I have a long range tang sight or two, rifle has a mid-range sight ideal for hunting.
Guidance? Cautions? All I'll say about the price is that it's reasonable for all involved.
