As long as I have hair, I'll pay someone to cut it. In turn, I hope they would choose to pay for my services one day.
I once sat in a dentist office and and there was a book showing pictures of the city streets then and now. All of the then pictures were private owned businesses. Independent shoe shops, grocers, restaurants, clothers, etc. All of the now pics were franchises and mega corps.
Barbers are one of the few independent shops left standing. I take pride walking in them.

I'm in the military and I have a buzz cut, so I cut my own.
I just bought some Remington curved cordless clippers and I just cut it all with the guard off every two weeks. I will say Remington makes better clippers than leverguns. :p When I was in Afghanistan I paid to have it done as it was cheap.
When I retire I might go to a barber shop if I can find one that can do a straight-razor shave worth a darn.
