UGH! I just won an eBay auction for 15lbs of Wilton Armetale “pewter” with the RWP mark. The title of the auction said pewter. Foolishly I didn’t do my homework until after the auction was over. Hopefully the seller won’t be a prick and let me cancel the sale since he incorrectly described the listing. But also my fault for not doing my research

Good Luck
jnutz19 If the seller used the word Pewter tell him if the pieces aren't marked "pewter" as he advertised you won't accept them.
Smelted my most of my pewter and cast it into 1/2 OZ boolits?

Shiny!
Did you have any problems cutting the sprues? The very first boolit I cast was pure tin in a five cavity mold with the cam lever style cutter and I let them cool in the mold just a bit too long - almost gave myself a hernia trying to cut that sprue.
Unless it's broken I'll keep pewter mugs and flask I like preserving stuff like that ww work just fine for me. Imagine in the future pewter is declared toxic by California like everything else and is no longer available. I guess by that time I'll have to melt em down because they'll hang ya for trying to buy lead
AFAIK, tin is nontoxic. Some forms of old pewter may have lead, but most modern pewter is lead free. No reason for California to throw a hissy fit.
Oh I know but there banning everything including human rights any more. it seems the sludge is really starting to flow into Montana lately. No telling what they'll ban next
jsizemore I went through several of my boolit molds and ended up with this mini ball mold which was closest to 1/2 oz per pewter boolit

Does that mold cast with lead at 320gr? If it is then 60% would be 192gr. Yours weigh @ 217gr.
That should work nicely.
Honestly, I did this the old-fashioned way. Trial and error. I tried several molds, weighing the pewter boolits until I found one that was close :) :bigsmyl2:[smilie=s:
That works too.
So are tankards, platters and plates solid pewter?
Maybe.
Usually, if they are marked Pewter 88-92% tin. If they are marked Zinn (means tin in German) they will have a higher tin content
I should have said, If it has a touchmark/stamping that says pewter, zinn, estano, estanho, etain, or peltro then you can be pretty sure it's the good stuff. Sometimes you'll see the peltro cast into the piece. It ain't the good stuff. If you see a sticker or a seller that says it's pewter, keep walkin'. If it says Wilton, Pewterex, or Steed don't buy.
My score from one stop last week. I’m sure the candlesticks probably have almost a pound of plaster in them...
