I paid $650 for mine back when they came out...
Another one came up for sale and it sold for only $2200...just never know day to day what an auction will bring.
Rod...#1 was nice enough to make this a sticky so it is easy to find for everyone and keep going...just wish a few more makers would start producing some .41s...
A big boost would be if someone would SAAMI certify the .41 Special...Ruger GP-100, Python and 686 could all be made in 6 shot revolvers...
That is quite possible as I didn't check the L-frame... I know it will with the Python and GP-100...
Lyman 410459 220 gr powered by 9.0 grs SR4756 with Mag Primer. Bought the biggest caca green can I could find when it was dropped by IMR
...I wish I had... That was a great powder especially for .38 Special.
...another 22" CCL 20" octagon sold two days ago on GB...$5200!!! No box...just the gun.
But a Henry just like the one that sold a couple of weeks ago for $1500...sold for $980...
Here is mine 6 shot by David Clements. double click for larger image...............
It has more meat than a 625
Gary...THAT is just one NICE gun...
I don't know exactly but it should still be as thick as a 625 the bolt should be similar between a N and an L frame. I shoot .45Super in my 625s.........
I blew a bolt knotch on a N frame one time. That will wake you up..........
Thanks for the compliment Bob.........
Dave clements was going to convert a 686 4" for me into a 6 shooter 41 special . He said that the GP100 made a better conversion and was a stronger gun . Before I had collected the funds , he went out of business .
In a 41 magnum case , 7.0 grs of Titegroup with a 210 gr cast bullet is a very nice , accurate , shoot all day load yet will take care of most business if called upon . Hodgdon's list 6.5-7.5 grs . Regards Paul
Check with Jack Huntington....
at one time Gary Reeder would use the GP100
If looking for lighter recoiling , easy shooting loads , you don't need " special cases " just use a lighter weight bullet in a magnum case . A 180 gr seated over 7.5 grs of Unique using a magnum case reportedly yields about 800-850 gps depending on barrel length , your gun etc . 6.5 grs of Unique using same bullet in a magnum case should yield about 775 fps . These loads make for some " easy shooting " have fun all day loads . What's not to like ? Regards Paul
The idea of the .41 special is to get away from the 3 pound revolver. A mid-Fram or .41 frame gun is the Ideal in .41spl….::.
I have been tempted to convert either a 60s vintage Colt Trooper or one of the new stainless Pythons to .41 Special...
The no longer available Taurus Trackers made great .41 Specials....
The new colt pythons should make a great 41 special . The cylinder is a bit shorter than the model 28's . I have an old Ideal mold in a 152 gr swc . The nose is too long for the new python that I have but it fits in my model 28 . So yes , I personally think the new python would make an ideal 41 special candidate . Regards Paul
