I've got the same gun and bullet Unique turned out to be the best in mine 9.2 grains with a standard cci primer. Clocked in over the chrony just over 1200 fps. Shot a nice doe two years ago at 45 yards hit higher than I wanted but it punched both shoulder and broke the spine on the way through. My bullets are cast from wheel weights and lubed with randyrat tac 1
What gun and length barrel are you using??
Bob
Ruger BH 4 5/8 barrel i tried 8gr of unique i had a pattern at 35 yards i will walk up my load
See how 8.5gr works for ya', does very well for me.
will do thanks
I have found that with single-action revolvers I do better with mid-range to full loads than I do with target velocity loads...no clue why.... With DA revolvers I can not beat 8.0 grains of Unique that is doing in the 925-975 fps range depending on the boolit...
With that 215V boolit you can go all the way up to 10.0 of Unique with no problem...

The 41 Special would be great in it had a small frame pistol (K frame)
..not enough cylinder meat on a K-frame to do a 6-shot but several custom smiths do L-frame and GP100 conversions to .41 Special. The Taurus Tracker was available in .41 Magnum as a 5 shot and was at least as small as a L-frame...
Those 4 5/8" Blackhawks are great guns with nice balance. I had three at one point but sold them all off and just kept one 6.5"... Will probably have another 4 5/8" when the right deal comes along...
Bob
here's mine. Click on the attachments to enlarge. Click on it again, it gets full screen........
NICE...now how about some details.....like who did the work and what kinds of loads do you use...
Bob
Clements did it a few years ago on a used and already cut 686 I bought from a member of CB on Gunbroker. I shoot a lot of 215gr commercial SWCBB with 5.5 to 6.5gr Unique or Universal, 7 to 7.5gr Power Pistol, or 12.5 to 14.5gr 2400. This is the reason I had the run of Star-Line .41spl brass made.
I have a Tarsus 4'' and what you list is what shoot in it 12.5 of AA#9 ==or 2400--230 Keith
dd....Are you the one I bought that 12K rounds of .41 Special brass from? How close are you to getting another run made?
Bob

Yes, you bought the brass from me. I have no plans to have any more made. I have enough to last me..............
Hey Dixie, you still have any for sale? I only got a few from you then lost who I got them from. I tried ordering from Reeds but they are still back logged.
Sold the last 5 boxes on here a while back, sorry.........
I just keep hearing that that Starline will make a run if they get a BO of 100K... But when I look on their website that caliber isn't listed...
It is a special order only deal. If you will buy the whole run they will make it. We've had an open order for them for several years, we have not even gotten close to the 50K min requirement for us to have the 100K run made.
Can .41 Spec be made by trimming .41 Mag? I have no interest but am curious why this has not been suggested before. I doubt that a group of .41 special enthusiasts could swing a GB for 100K.
Yes, .41 mag can simply be trimmed to the .41 Spl with no issue.
I've refrained from commenting on the pictures in post 212, but that looks exactly like my S&W696 in .44 Special except for the number of holes in the cylinder and their size. I can see the attraction for the .41 special.
At current prices for the 696, a conversion of the 686 to .41 special might be feasible.
Not really, It was a couple of years before I even offered any for sale. I guess it is just a case of what it is worth to you, personally. I did finally after 5 or so years get all of my money back and end up with enough brass left for a lifetime. I had the conversion a couple of years before I got the brass and it has never had any but proper headstamped brass fired through it.
all my molds cast boolits that are too long for my 4'' Tracker --sooo I have trimming brass for a while--- it works just fine-- normal load is 12.5 AA#9 --230 Saeco Keith-- case is 1.115-1.2-- using a .400 inch nose -- with the 410459 it has a .420 so really need to take them down to 1.110
Local gun shop has a 41 blackhawk, used. I was headed to do some trading on it when I ran across a 32HR Single Six. Now that 41 is still there and after shooting the single six a while, I realize I miss having single actions! Good luck and enjoy your new blackhawk!
I have the same issue with my TI Tracker, I have been using 41Special cases but I think I am going to reserve them for the Clements GP100 since they will not be available for a while!
By the By, the 41 Blackhawk is at Kings gun shop (no relation) in Columbia TN.,,, Somebody please go buy it before I give in to the lust....
rking..everyone needs a good .32 and .41...go complete your collection...[smilie=w:
What he said............
Yep, and that 32 should be followed by a 20. :)
.41spl brass on Star-Line web site, available for back order. We did it
Starline Brass is doing a run of .41 Special, their website says it is available now: https://www.starlinebrass.com/brass-cases/41-Special/
Yield to temptation, guys. You may not get another chance. I got my order in for 1K, and I'll probably be kicking myself in a few years for not getting more.
Any recomended loads that will be on the warm side but wont give me the death rings in my ears if I shoot once or twice with out hearing protection?
Sweet, now question is I have some on back order with Reeds, any word if your getting any or should I just order from star line?
