Nicely done. I like that you painted it. Should give years of service.
THAT IS A FAKE PICTURE. No ones bench is that clean!

Thanks, I'm sure it will get messy the more I use it. :-D
that is a "sturdy" looking bench
I picked up the light at a garage sale for 50¢ at a yard sale. Do those lights affect electronic scales or just beam scales?

I'm pretty new to reloading and casting, but i think i have a pretty nice set up so far. The bench is made of 4x4's and a solid oak table top (it weighs like 150 lbs and is rock freaking solid) I apologize in advance if my bench is too clean for you guys :-P. I'd like to add a single stage at some point and there are about a half a dozen calibers i'd like to get dies for. Also, i'm in dire need of a gun safe (donations welcome ;)) Casting goes on in the driveway currently, but if i can figure out some sort of ventilation, i'd like to do that in the basement as well. Hopefully i can figure that one out before winter.

If you have a basement window, it is pretty easy to rig up a fan. I have seen casting benches under a window with an exhaust fan. Some have removed one pane of glass and mounted the exhaust fan it place of the window and some have a complete separate take out window with a fan mounted. When he casts, he just removes the window and installs the fan - takes all of two minutes. Another possibility is to use an inline fan with dryer ducting (Lowe's and Home Depot have inline fans). Many have used a discarded range hood and duct it to a window or in the space above the basement wall and out the wall with a dryer vent hood on the outside. Dryer vent hoods have a flapper valve inside that opens from the wind from the fan.

Are those containers from the hospital? Mine are.

Bedpan bullets?
Heya cja245. I'm in Appleton too and started reloading and casting early last year. Your setup looks nice so far. I too need a gun safe one of these days! These guys have helped me out quite a bit around here. A few actually helped with ideas to get me casting in the basement. I used the fan/dryer vent idea Dale mentioned. I'd still like to add a range hood at some point too. Maybe we can chat sometime. good luck! -Brad
Hey thanks for the info :drinks: I just took your advise and went to menards yesterday to check out the ducting stuff. I picked up an 8in inline fan with some reducers for 6in. I made a replacement storm pane for my basement window out of plywood where the duct goes out. I used the flexible foil ducting and a another 6 to 8 inch reducer on the end for a hood. I tried it out last night with a batch of 45s and it worked pretty slick.
I'll post pics when i get a chance.
I found about a hundred of them at a yard sale for free. I honestly don't know what they are for, but you might be right. They work great. When i decide to load a particular caliber i just slide the appropriate bins over by the press and load away.
Hi Brad. :drinks: I've been really surprised that there are several people from Appleton on this forum. I usually shoot at the Ox Bow club out in Hilbert. We'll have to go shooting some time.
Here's what i came up with. It's certainly not a professional installation and i did this in like 25 minutes, but it works. I hung it with nail in romex straps and big tie wraps. I am going to have to insulate the window and i gotta wire the fan to a switch yet. I wasn't sure if the fan would have enough power with that much duct in front of it, but it turns out it does. When i'm done casting i just put the duct on top of the light so its out of the way.

Gotta be a redneck joke in there somewhere ... love it!
The important thing, is that the gentleman now has good ventilation for his lead pot. I give four stars!!

I give 5 stars just for inventiveness.
