hello everyone,
hope everyone is doing good. xfox and i have been hard at work getting things going here in texas. we've developed a couple of new products for everyone, some products are still in R&D but we are kicking around the idea of having a open beta test of these R&D products.
we have 3 sets that are just about ready for sale, but we ran into a supply problem with core molds from lee. as it turns out, lee is so backed up they have NO ETA on when they will have blank molds. so xfox and i set out to design something that we could include with the 3 die sets. what we came up with surprised the both of us.
most of us, have been casting lead for some time now, and we all run with simple rules in place. like preheat mold before casting, clean cavities for clean bullets, spur plate has to be sharp and must be perfect fitting. dont cast too fast keep an even pace. Stuff like this. Our brain storming came up with a core mold that shatters all of these rules. and i mean really shatters them.
the mold we came up with can be used while cold, it makes perfect cores every time. its designed to cast as a fast pace. so fast, that you really don’t need a second cavity. 1 cavity is enough, because your spitting out 20 cores in just a minute or two. There’s no spur plate, it’s not needed. Once the mold comes to temp, the steel frame retains enough heat that when you eject the core, it knocks the spur off the top as it ejects.
i did a little video of xfox using one of our R&D molds, since then, we have made 6 more of them to perfect the build and design. Granted, there are still some things that could be perfected but all and in all, they are pretty damn good.
the design is simple enough, that we expect to have our production company make them for us, so we can keep the cost down on them. we are shooting for a price of $25 each once we go retail but this is a little ways off.
for now, we have a couple of extra molds we would like to put in the hands of a 3rd party for playing with. if anyone is interested in testing the new core mold out for a couple of weeks just let me know.
also, xfox and i will be doing a little casting race video today or tomorrow. where we put a traditional lee core mold up against the new kaine dies mold. i'll be using the traditional lee mold, where xfox will be using the new kaine dies mold. we'll be casting 20 cores up each. winner will be the first to reach 20. now, just so i'm up front with everyone, i will be trying to beat him, i will not be throwing the race. i dont want anyone saying, "i can cast faster than that, its not a true race." over the years of casting, i've got pretty fast at casting cores and bullets. that and i just like being competitive.. so lets see who wins the race.
i may even let xfox use an additional core just so its 2 cores against 2 cores.. but we'll see.
again if your interested in being apart of the beta and trying one of these core molds for your self, be sure to pm me.
Thanks everyone,
Dan
