Went to the the local shooting range swap meet. Found 2 20 ingots of plumbers lead for 10 bucks each. I am happy.
Cleaned the 9MM brass. Sorted the 45 and in a state of shear panic went on line and ordered 600 more once fired 45's. I love/hate the internet!
Loaded up 30+ 10 mm rounds with 6.8 grains of Power Pistol to be chronoed when we get a decent day. 7.3 grains averaged about 1150 fps. Want to try to get down some for a fun load.
I loaded up 300 rounds of .38 Special using Missouri Bullet 125 gr Cowboy #17 boolits over 4.5 grains of W231 and CCI 500 primers.
Moved outside and smelted most of my soft lead ( SOWW's, range scrap, roof flashing and some mystery lead my uncle gave me) into ingots. Ended up with about 30 lbs of ingots when all was said and done.
Tonight is powder coating night. I am using, and if you can find one, buy it, a Midway 1088 vibratory tumbler. Static 'o plenty. Tumble one load whilst another is cooking.
Oh, also I unstuck a .223 case from a sizing die. Need more lube next time.
I had just enough time this morning to open the package containing my new NOE collar button mold and get a little drool on it.
Yesterday I realized I couldn't cut grass due to rain and thought "darn, now I'll have to go cast some bullets". I then went to the carport area and cast some 32-098s and some Lyman 225-415s. Culled about half of the 415s and then sized the near entirety of the 32-098s @ .314. After getting the 225-415 mold to the bench I realized I had a flake of lead on the mold face so I gingerly removed it and still had day light between halves of the mold. I stoned the face of the mold with the holes and not the pins and there were definitely burrs there. So after some judicious stoning they line up perfect with no light to be seen. I may wait for some more rain and fire that thing back up just to see how it does.
Vacuumed the floor first time is 5 years
Attachment 136952 I just cleaned up the bench.
Loaded 130 380acp with 2.7 gr Bullseye behind the Lee 102 gr boolit. My Taurus 738 loves this load.
Sitting here, drinking a Milk Stout Nitro, listening to tunes on Pandora. Wifey had another surgery today, and all went well. Number 17, I think.
Wondering which cigar to light up.
Cast 600 454, 255 gr'ers.
Today I cast a couple thousand 175 grain .401 TC's. It's time to give the pot a good cleaning so I poured it empty. http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/y...17_174458.jpeg
I have to ask, how long did that take you? and how many cavity mold were you using?
Six cavity mold, I was in the shop for about four hours but wasn't casting fast and furious.
I only cast about 300 boolits tonight. I feel like a slacker compared to the above.
Loaded up some 300 grain rounds to test in the freshly built 458 Socom, half j-words and half hard cast. Then I drooled on the Rapine molds I picked up for it, hopefully this weekend I'll finally try my hand at casting. And I had to bump the cast rounds a little deeper after I mortared one back out of the chamber :-)
