I'd do it first thing in the morning or in the evening. Set up a work light. I haven't done any smelting since early spring. Although I do need to do some more soon.

I melted 130lbs of ww the other day, a bit warm for us at 70 deg. I have another 200lbs to melt so that will have to wait till next week.
Bout 90 lbs today. Me, Beer and an old 36'' Emerson window fan!
Another 83 pounds tonight. The rest of the pure lead from a few days ago.
83 or pure and about 68 or ww. Should last me a few more months.
Just did a nice 35lb pot, 98deg right now. Sun's down and a little breeze, pretty nice for Texas.
The only free time I have this time of year is at night and down here in SW Florida the Mosquitoes will carry you away so i'm stock piling now for the fall.
I was smelting the other day 95deg and was just about done and a afternoon thunderstorm decided to show up. Thank God for a lid near by.
Yep - I'm collecting whenever I can find it fr smelting in the fall. Right now I have over a hunnerd pounds of ingots for my boolit supply so I should be good until then. You can tell I don't get to shoot as much as I should. ;)
Smelted 700# of Lead and COWW's from mid-May to late June in Northern Illinois. Temps were in upper 70's and mid 80's. Set up early morning and worked in shade until noon. The various chunks and buckets of weights were taking up too much floor space. July is getting into the 90's, plus I am back to work. Glad this bunch is done.
I have no choice, too many WW to smelt and too few boolits casted.
I smelted today. No ac, no swamper either. After 100°, what does it matter?
The important thing is the lead, right?
60 pounds or so of oil soaked COWW. It's the first time I had flames last more than a few seconds. I was soaked when I got done but had a nice pile of clean WW ingots ready to alloy later. Next week I alloy some WW and Foundry Type for some 13.5 BHN.
I have switched from casting to canning.
I messed around all spring and now it is hot here in Kansas (106 degrees one day) and I have 11 buckets of WW's to sort and smelt down into ingots. I have three more buckets ready to be picked up at the tire shop, I will be able to pick them up next week when I get enough buckets emptied to do so. I have been soaked to the bone with sweat already sorting and smelting so I guess you can say that is punishment for being so lazy and not getting it done before the heat rolled in. "Live and sometimes learn".
Unless we get a cool spell, no smelting.... but if it cools down at night then I may cast a couple hundred 44's or 45-70 rounds (depends on pain level) jeeze I used to be able to cast 3 to 4 thousand at a time and now Im lucky to get a couple hundred before I have to lay down....
Doc
~50 pounds of wheel weights today, 46 pounds of ingots give or take a few ounces
Good to see the action continues regardless of the weather.
Been POURIN' here in the IL. I have done about 3 tons this year so far . It's been hot all July here. I usually do about 800 pound on Saturday. I'm still wood fired too. I'm usually dripping too, got to drink lots. If anyone needs lead though let me know ill see what I can do.
"I usually do about 800 pound on Saturday"
What do you do with all that lead/alloy? Wood is good.
