I am in need of an extractor claw for a small 310 handle set. If anyone has such an animal I have several 310 item to trade. I'll have to see what all I have and post them here. How about it? Anybody have an extra extractor claw laying unused in your junk drawer???
What I'm in need of is a good extractor claw for a set of small 310 handles. I haven't been able to use my 218 Bee set since my claw broke on me. How about it? Anybody out there with a spare extractor claw laying in their junk drawer??? I have several and various 310 dies and things to swap.
Do you have adrill press, hacksaw, and 10" bastard file? If not, you are way under equipped. If you do, someone should be able to provide a sketch with a few dimensions. Mytools aare all packed away and I have too many projects to finish before I can move intomy new house or I would have time to do it.
In all the time I've been dealing with 310 tools, I've never seen a extractor hook offered for sale by itself. one time I bought a small lot of assorted 310 stuff with a tool that had broken off right about the threaded portion. The only part I was able to salvage was the hook, but I sold it off several years ago to help somebody else on this forum.
The late, lamented 310 Shoppe probably had them, but of course that source is gone as is the factory source at Lyman since the discontinued all support of the 310 system. Any original part you find will be strictly by luck, I fear. I feel like making your own as suggested above by ulav8r may be your best option.

Just a PSA: there is somebody down in Swappin’ & Sellin’ offering a cabinet full of “310 dies”. From the pictures and his description it appears that they are actually TruLine Jr sets, but some of the cognoscenti here might want to look into it. He only wants to sell the whole batch, so each set would be about $20. No connection, just passing it on for general interest.

There is a 4die 44-40 set of dies only on ebay with 14 bids sitting on $350 with 19 hours to go . That's stupid .
The only hard part about making 310/TruLine dies is the threads. Ideal adopted an oddball proprietary thread before the SAE standards were developed and not all lathes can be set up to cut it. Of course any lathe product requires a level of skill from the machinist.
With collectors competing with users, a desirable set of dies, still in the box, becomes very attractive and if you have two or more determined bidders, these things happen. I wish a few could happen when I’m the seller!

I just bought a .33 Winchester steel set in the box with the dies still wrapped for $90 and freight , also a .32 WCF steel set for $100 and freight. I am thinking about buying an 1886 in .33 Winchester but untill I do the steel .33 handles being the same as, I can use with my 45-70 dies without the #10 insert missing from my die set.
Well Eddie, it looks like I’ll have to turn my “310 crown” over to you. At least it’s going to sit on a good head!

Froggie,
One time when I complained about a haircut my barber said he was sorry but it was just near impossable to put a $15 dollar haircut on a $2 head.
A few more sets and some odd parts and I will have all the sets back that I lost in the burgulary plus a couple of new ones. You doing anything interesting lately?
When i was a kid my haircut used to cost a quarter at the barber shop - I suspect that head was hardly worth a nickle at that point. What else do you need or want at this point Eddie? Only thing else i am looking for is 7.62 X 54R Russian, and Maybe one to load .44 colt. don't know if they ever made that one. I could cut down a 44 special set. Keep up the hunt
Broke now Tom but when I'm not I'll be on the hunt for a steel .44 Special set , a steel 9mm set and a steel .32 S&W set . Probably need a few steel handles for rifle cartridges but I'm not sure which. Need #9, 10, 3 handle inserts , Sizer stems in .458 and .358 for Rifle dies and .427 for pistol. Need # 418 and 315 seating stems and a #78 muzzle sizing die. Also a #97 rifle neck expanding die body to complete a .32 WS set. Problem I usually have is needing the same stuff everybody else needs but nobody has extra any more. I'm still watching for your priming chamber. Any luck getting the #2 apart since we talked last ?
The .33 set is here and other than part of the box top being sunned to yellow it's perfect , complete and all correct. The .32 WCF set is in Huntsville and will be here tomorrow.
3-8-24 : The .32WCF set was in the mailbox this morning along with a $10 Lyman #45 manual to take the place of the one I got for my birthday in 1970 . That gives me one and one each for the boy's . The .32WCF set is also clean and correct in a pretty nice box. Neither set had instructions so I will likely have to find some to complete the sets.
Hey Eddie - I could not find a single tool, or a friend with one that could pull that little pin out of the push rod - Your asking about it got me spurred to try and find a machine shop to help me either get the pin out and replaced and put into the #16 PC, Or make a whole new push rod set up. Called around this afternoon and got a recommendation for a retired guy with a basement shop. I think he's gonna be able to do it after talking with him. Hopefully he won't charge me an arm and a leg. We seem to have tractors and guns in common - Maybe that'll buy me a little respect when it comes to pricing - That and the fact that we are both certified "old guys" Hope the world is not treating you too awful bad these days. Best to You & Yours, Tom
I'd let him make a plunger and spring using a roll pin instead od a solid one. I got to think Lyman somehow soldered the pin in wven though I could not tell it on the one that was broken through the hole.
