You guys are making my 'Green Monster' act up with all this 1895 Winchester talk......
Just got a 1895 in 30 40. Loaded up some 150 FMJs at about 2100 fps.
Crescent butt plates hurt.

Also been writing Starline in regards to 45-75 WCF brass. Will add 405 WCF also.

it must have taken 4 or 5 years (every month) to get starline 444 brass. every month i write starline to come up the 30-40 krag, 221 fireball and 405 win. brass. i'll just add a couple of more......
The 405, 30-40, 303 Britsh, 35 Winchester are all similar, rim and head diameter. Peel the rim off and you can get 35 Rem so it should show up when they are ' ALL CAUGHT UP'. Remember the 444 is '06 with the rim left on, common with all the other 308/'06 head diameters.
A 405 Winchester 1895 with a receiver sight makes for a very fast heavy thwaper with 300 grain cast at 2000 fps.... Especially with a large flat nose followed by 3-4 more nestled down in that box magazine.
I like to think of my Browning BLR as a late 20th century rendition of the 95.

On the back burner is a full stocked musket build using a .30-06 Browning copy that I picked up a few years ago. Hopefully will look like this. I already have 1866, 1873 and 1876 muskets, the 1895 will be in good company.
Pardon the Hornady version - but it does fit in the carrier of this old gal (also pardon her liver spots, she's been around a while). So it's darn sure possible to do this! But I believe Winchester had moved on by this point.
Gratuitous accouterment picture of course!

Who was making the brass for Hornady is the good question. Were they actually doing it or was it someone like Starline or PRVI. If it's PRVI, then maybe Graf's could convince them to make a run. I know PRVI made the 7.5x55 Brass, the Hornady, Graf's, and PRVI-all PRVI brass.
There has been a lot of brass that Starline at one point didn't make and there wasn't enough demand. But eventually they started. I forget the minimum order(someone gave me an example one time), but it's a lot, for a new case!!
