There's a list in the stickies for anybody who encounters any abbreviations or acronyms that hang them up. :coffeecom
Of course you never have to use them, but you will see them on this forum and if you want to look them up.... there they are. 8-)
Here's a link to make it even easier to find.

I answered what I could.
Living in Europe, I use a local PC product. As I am not completely happy with the results, I am thinking about getting the new staff from Randy, but it is not simple to get it over here without anoying complications.
Believe it or not, so far I have failed to locate a single #5 tub here!!! I will have to test the recently suggested PVC pipe method.
Having no Lube-sizer, beside PC I also tumble-lube (45-45-10). I have a supply of WLL too, but find pan-lubing slow.
I handload i.e. cast / PC for handguns only.

I feel for you guys over there. We have our dry spells for powder and the like, now they're trying to dry up our Pb....now you have trouble getting something as simple as PC...
I'll bet if it were made in a Muslim country...You'd be over-run with it!
Hang in there...at least we have a new Sheriff in town trying to restore 'common sense'...it's getting better.

My procedure is similar to what DerekP listed.
Ziplok bowl with screw-on lid.
Powder and black airsoft bb's from Smoke4320.
Swirl and shake the bowl with cast boolits for about 2 minutes.
Using forceps or large tweezers, pick up each boolit, tap off excess powder. Place on baking tray with parchment paper.
Bake in toaster oven @400F for 15 to 20 minutes.
I'm only doing a few dozen at a time, mostly just rifle boolits to feed the 30-30 and 45-70. If I were coating pistol rounds, this would be too slow a process.

Spoiler: we are all living dangerously
* I wear a respirator when I do PC coatings 5. 6.94%
Except 5 of us.
I highly doubt this stuff is safe to breath. However I'm not donning my respirator just yet either. I probably will grab it when it's too late and am simply trying to slow down or halt progression of whatever this brings me.
-
I use a respirator when I spray but have shaked more than I've sprayed.

Interesting how some of the commons are alike.
For some like me, I spay and tumble, so answered both ways. I think the end result will be the same tho.
Thanks for putting the poll together

Outstanding work on this poll.
I've yet to start PC'ing, but it's great to see the results so far.
Very educational, and thank you.
-
Thanks for the kind comments fellas...I've read so many accounts of what everyone does and all of them different in some little way or another that I thought a comprehensive questionnaire might sort things out a bit...at least we can tell what the majority is doing and whether it is satisfactory...
-
Some very insightful things from the poll. Looks like I'm following what most do, but some things others do more. Nice info to know. TY for making this poll.

I am not so much concerned with doing a large quantity at one time. I may do two batches of a hundred at one time. So the ES is more time consuming for the quantity I do. And besides my small air comp. in the polebarn took a permanent vacation.
THATS JUST MY WAY Kevin
-
So far I've only done a few batches but I am happy with the results so far.
I preheat my boolits at 140 for 4 minutes, then dump them into a #5 container with some unknown brand of white powder coat that I was given, shake for about a minute or until coated, dump into a mesh tray, shake off excess, spread around sort of, then cook at 400 for 20 minutes. When done I dump them into a bucket of water and have not had any stick together. Size, gas check, then load. I have fired 30 of them at full house loads in a .308 so far with no leading. Haven't got the load dialed in yet but it's been encouraging.
-
that was very interesting. love all the info on this site....... but has anyone noticed if the powder sticks better on older bullets.... that have oxidized a little as opposed to fresh cast bullets? i think i have found it to be true but am still new to the PC coating ..... thanks
-
44...The 'does it stick good?' question has been tested thus far by hammering a PC'd cast flat. If the paint stays with the lead we've been calling her 'good'.
-
I don't get it. I've tried every method anyone has mentioned except the spray gun and the HF red powder will not stick to the bullets. I get such poor coverage I don't bother to cook them.

Good poll OS OK ,I like looking at the graph to see where I sit . I'm PC'n right now.

Stop using the HF red. None of the HF powders work very good. Some guys get decent results with the HF Black. Other colors will work decent if you spray them. Get a sample pack from Smokes and you will be amazed how well it works. Then, once you are getting good results you can fine tune your process.
