Cast up about 1000 a 40 S&W.
Replaced very old fluorescent lights with new models, fixtures and all. I also repositioned them to cover the changes made over the years to the work benches. The room is 24x24 and now all of the surfaces and corners are lit as if by daylight. What a difference.
Had big plans yesterday but well pump went out so I had to pull it and put a new pump in. But today I started tumbling brass from my last range trip. My son and I went to shoot our new Christmas presents He got a SR1911 Target 45ACP in stainless and I got a Smith 629 44 mag with a 3 inch barrel
Cast 90 309 x150 gr fn lee boolits 90 x 169grrn Lee boolits and 90 x 190 gr sil rcbs boolits then tumble lubed them will gas check when they are dried .
Cast up about 400 .309 170 grn from a arsenal mold. loaded about 40 of them over lil-gun for a 300 blkout in desending powder increments from my standard load to get to the lowest charge with good cycling. Also changed some lights and bulbs in the man cave along with dismantling a xl650 to fix a broken part under the shell plate ( damm friends:drinks:). still have another weeks vacation so all kinds of gun projects to finish ( along with my Loooong honey do list)
Tumbling 38 brass, loaded some test loads in 308 and 06 with SR4759 using an NOE 312290 boolit. NOE 30 Hunter in the 308.
I continued making the work bench for my Christmas present to myself - a Magma Master Caster. Its coming together well and using salvaged lumber from some debutante party is even better. Trim down 2x4s into 2x3s and then run through the surface planer a few times so it doesn't look like I just screwed some crappy 2x4s together from some stupid debutante party. :)
I should be up and casting bullets this weekend!
I went in, looked around, stepped over some things, moved some things around with my foot, and left. I'll tackle it tomorrow, lol.
loaded a few boxes of 12ga shells today
Installed a scope on my new Marlin 60
I'm new here, but have been lurking for a couple of months. This is a great forum with a lot of valuable information. I haven't started casting bullets but I have been collecting range lead and casting ingots.
I stopped at a local tire shop today and asked if they had any wheel weights they would part with. The man had a puzzled look on his face like I had just landed here from Mars. I quickly explained to him that I wanted them to cast bullets. Texas is very gun friendly and his face lit up, "Oh ya, we have plenty of them, drive around back and we'll load you up".
I have a small car and could only get three 5 gallon buckets in the back seat. I slipped the man a $20 and asked him what kind of beer the crew drank. Told him I'd be back next week for more with beer and cash in hand. He told me they had a couple of buckets full of truck weights that he was sure the boss wanted to get rid of.
I got back home, started sorting and realized that I didn't have enough propane to melt all the lead I have so I ran to another tire shop in town that fills propane tanks. Got my propane filled and asked if they had any wheel weights. The man went to the back and returned with half a bucket. He told me he'll start setting them aside for me. (Gotta love small Texas towns.)
I figure I have nearly 300# for $20. I have 80# sorted and only 19# is steel and zinc. That's just over 75% lead which seems like a good ratio.
It was getting near dark so I loaded up the dutch oven and was able to pour out 32 ears of corn, which weigh just over 1 pound, with my cast iron corn muffin pan. I'll be back at it again tomorrow.
Well done Sir, and welcome to the club!
Sounds like you're well on your way to having a full fledged sickness on your hands. ;)
I'm casually loading 120 .223s on a Hornady LnL progressive. I'll load about 20 or so then do something else like today I switched some scopes around and installed an Apex trigger on my .40 Shield. Best, Thomas.
Not alot , sized and trimmed some brass today. Deprimed a couple thousand pieces of brass over the holiday break.
Loaded up fifty 147 grain XTPs w/ a starting charge of Universal. And another fifty w/ 8.0 grains of 800-X. I'm a little leery of Hodgdon's loads. They listed only a max charge of 800-X at 9.0 grains. Wasn't listed as a compressed charge. The case was filled to the top at 9.0. At 8.5 it was still in the neck. I didn't want to reduce a full grain but didn't want a compressed charge either.
Lee's short bottle neck crimp die played havoc w/ OAL. Couldn't get the same OAL to save my life. All were 1.140 before entering the die. Came out between 1.141 - 1.148. All passed the plunk test and are shorter than mag length. And the bullets aren't going anywhere which I what I care about. I have a feeling this die will cause problems w/ lead bullets.

Sized about 150 223 brass. Only about another 350 to do. Hope to spend more time on the brass prep in Jan&Feb.
Loaded up 200 rounds of 223 and cleaned up. Tried out my new F A T torque wrench, wow was I way off using the "I think that's good" method. I am changing press over to 9mm for early morning. Then taking the 10/22 to the club for some practice. Woo Hoo, I love this hobby!
