Well i made it up. I read where a teaspoon full of alox couldn't hurt. The only alox i had was already turned into ben's LL, so i put a tsp of that in it.
Greased up a bunch of noe 460-350's with it and the following accured.
No leading at all.

That's some fine iron sight shooting for sure.
so we are a couple of years in on this Lube now,,,,,,,, and the consensus is?
anybody tried anything like graphite?
It works is the consensus and it doesn't stink like grease. :bigsmyl2::bigsmyl2:
It works very well in my experience, easy to get ingredients, simple to make I added a bit XLOX at R5R's suggestion. I need to give it a try on breech seating some boolits and it doesn't stink what's not to like about that?

I can honestly say it doesn't leak the oils or come apart over time. I made the original recipe without any additives such as lanolin or alox and it worked just fine.
The last batch i made was about 2 years ago or a bit more? It will still go slick between your fingers if you squeeze a small piece of it after all that time. Stays in the grooves real well too.
I think it's a very flexable lube for folks that like to experiment with adding a bit of this or that to make it slicker or even firmer for a certain bbl. or bbl. length.
I think I am one my third batch of the original recipe, it works great without anything else added. it is my only lube, use it on everything , pistol/rifle/PB/GC.

I,m about out of my first batch now. I made mine as per the original instructions and haven't had any problems with it. I'm using it for all my non tumble lube pistol bullets and 45/70. I'll try it out on 303 British pretty soon.
Here's some simple in a .35 rem
I really like this stuff.
I'm getting ready to mix up a batch for myself. I have ventured down the soap lube road for a couple of years and so far all I have managed to do is turn 2" groups into 10" ones. It's a darned shame because the stuff I tried sure handled well. I really like a lube that allows you to stack bullets up against each other without them pulling out the neighbor's lube.
you'll wanna firm this one up a bit and leave out the Lanolin then.
a little micro-wax or about 5-6% paraffin won't hurt anything and will help tone down the sticky.
I made a batch up yesterday and dropped the atf and 2 stroke in half and added in a tsp of wheel bearing grease and a tsp of alox in their place.
it didn't turn green.
I did decide to add some lanolin at the last minute and this version really reminds me of Felix lube.
Cooling my first batch - followed the original recipe
Looking a nice olive green - color doesn't matter to me as long as it works.
First attempt at making lube.
My new pro melt is coming today and have a new accurate mould for the
45LC - fresh alloy ready and am smiling pretty big today.
Christmas in June.
excellent,, let us know how it works out.
I really like how this stuff works in a star lube sizer. No smearing when bullet exits the die even if the sizer is too cold. Stays in grooves for me.
kicking this up to the top so I can find it, and link it to another discussion.
Fun read, runfiverun. Thanks for sending me over here. Didin't think I'd try and read it tonight but I did and was glad for it. This "lube thing" is a fever I've caught and don't know how to get rid of.
well if you got a week or so I can recommend another thread
After "that other thread" there's (in my opinion) probable cause to look askance at almost any concoction that someone just throws together. We all do - just throw them together, but one might be well advised to read the "Ultimate loob thread" before venturing into this field. While almost anything (including nothing) can be used as boolit lube, almost anything that works well is already known. If you want to do the best you can, then sheep scrotum dander perhaps should be foregone.
Mixed up some simple lube and I love it! Pretty sure I found my favorite lube for pistols. I don't cast for rifles....Yet :). Being lazy I need to ask. Has the formula changed at all from post 1 ?
I pan lubed some last night and was able to push them out about an hour later. I left some in the pan to see how they push out with a over night stay in the lube.
