For those of you waiting on 30 cal dies and to those of you with interest.
First I appoligize for keeping you waiting. I have spent a good deal of time working on a new internal design for the 30 cal point form die.
I am happy to say that I solved any and all issues I may have had and I feel 100% confident now in their ease of operation and teh perfect bullets they make.
The dies worked just fine before when I took your orders but I knew they could be better. Well now they are!
Long story short, my concern was with the small .095 ejection pin and the potential it had of getting stuck in the tip of the jacket of the formed bullet. I worked long and hard and have now come up with a perfect, simple design that keeps this pin out of the way of the forming bullet. It is the same design I am using in the 22 cal point form dies and will no doubt use it in all my point form dies. This upgrade to the internal components will prove to be more user friendly with better formed bullets and potential for greater accuracy.
Thank you to all my current 30 cal customers in giving me the time I needed to make these dies perfect for you. You will certainly notice and appericate the upgrade I have come up with for you.
As many of you can imagine the point form die is the most difficult die to machine and is the most critical die as far as tollerances. It is this die that will ultimately determine the potential accuracy of the formed bullet. I have spent a long time perfecting these dies and it has not always been an easy road for me. I am very pleased with the results from my efforts and I welcome you all to enjoy the perfection and ease for which these dies opperate and the exellent bullets they make. Take as many pics as you like of the bullets or the externial beauty of these dies but please keep any pics of the internal secerets of these dies off the net.
I'll have these upgraded 30 cal die sets sent to all my patient customers very soon.
Thank you for your patience and support
Good shooting and Swage On!
Brian
Wow. As much as I am always impressed with your tooling, I am even more impressed with how you continue to improve the design.
Even other companies, like Corbin and CH4D have rested on their laurels for years now, never improving the design. In my book, this new development of yours puts YOU miles ahead of even the other companies that you once worried about as competitors.
I am delighted that I read the "tea leaves" correctly ages ago, and made the investment in your tools.
I continue to build my inventory of 5.7X28FN brass, and know that I'll be able to make high quality .308" bullets for my 30-06 and .308 Win guns. I'm especially delighted that even my M1A will benefit!
Swage On, buddy!
Yep! These point form dies incorperate the same design now as your 22 cal point form die does and you know how well that die works.
Thanks
BT
the ejection pin is the down fall of many point form dies.
if it's set to only do h-points they won't do a soft point without modifying the die and pin both.
if the ejector fails the die set becomes about useless.
been there.
I do believe that is the great thing about my design with these point form dies. You can make both HP and SP with the same die, no components to change out, no lead tip form die.

Lead Tip SP and HP! Good To Go!
BT
Just don't hit the top of the ejector with a mallet to eject the bullets.
The automatic ejector plate is the only way to go.
Nice stuff, Brian.
yep, one ejector on it's way.
just pointing out some pitfalls [onotherbrands cough, cough]
like i said.
been there, got a bunch of .228 bullets.
Does the notch die have an ejector?
Ie if using commercial jacket
Brian's Universal Notching die doesn't do any bullet sizing. It begins the folding over of the ends of the brass. It therefore doesn't need any an ejector

There's absolutely NO touching of the sides of the brass with this tool. It only crimps on the end.
They fall completely free.
The design of this tool, however, is based on fired brass.
You would have to create a special holder bottom punch to do this with a commercial jacket.
The special holder bottom punch would have a hollow cavity to hold the jacket with the seated core.
You'd lift the crimped jacket out of that bottom punch with your fingers.
Yes a simple ejection pin is possible with the universal notch die and has been done allready for those that think thy might need it for use with commercal jackets. I got a pic of what it looks like here somewhere.
It is true the jackets will typically free fall but the ejection pin is certainly not a problem to add for those that wish.

To make a 45acp I assume you use a 40 cal case. Do you have to trim it or can you use the case as is with the dies? I ask cause i seen a video of BT cutting i think a 40 S&W case down for a 45 i think. Please let me know if I am wrong. Still learning and haven't made the leap to swaging yet.
