That is the cutest little cartridge I've ever seen. You basically just snip a piece of of copper wire, shape to profile on a jewelers lathe. that's a neat one.

A miscut Lee mold that ended up being .22 caliber and 40 gr along with a sack of 5k .25 ACP brass got me thinking. Why not a centerfire .22 Long Rifle, aka .221 Askins, made with commonly available brass? 3 sizings later and it is .242", holds a .223" non heeled bullet, and just might be going into a .22 project rifle I have in the back of the safe by short chambering with a .22 WMR reamer.

You'll need a "push in with flat ram face and eject with top punch" type die to do a final pass to iron everything out nice and smooth all the way down to the top of the rim. Some visible bubbling there at the base of the case down where normal sizing can't reach. Other then that, not a bad idea. You can also just neck down the 25-ACP brass and form a micro bottle-neck case with a very minimal shoulder, that's been done before and even has a name (can't remember what off the top of my head). My personal favorite mini plinker wildcat that someday I want to build a gun for is the 17-Skeeter which is the 25-ACP necked down to 17-cal micro short fat bottle neck cartridge. I have several cartridges and even the semi-official specs. for that one, just haven't "got around to" building one of them. Mainly because it's one of the only "cast boolit friendly" 17-caliber cartridges.
Made another while cleaning up in the garage that I don't think has ever been done before. Found a lonesome piece of 7.62x38r Nagant brass rolling around. Tossed it on the press with a .25-20 neck die, it was a bit big and rubbed on the body. Seated an unsized 257388 HP in it that was in the reject pile waiting to be melted. I have to admit this looks really nice to me, but the rim is tiny. Rim is .389", .351" base, 1.52" case length, and just about a 2" loaded length with that bullet. I don't know what to call it, .25-25 WCF? 6.35 Nagant? Probably would want to stock up on Nagant brass while the revolvers are popular though.

How did you make that one on the right? What is the parent case? Really sweet looking.

From left to right
1. 6.5x55
2. 6.5x55 with a new 8mm neck
3. Cut down to 45mm, and neck reamed to .012" thickness, 8mmx45!!! will hold about 35gn of powder
4. 8mm LEE Custom mold (Midsouth)
I don't post a lot but love to read this forum. I have three wildcats I load for. Here's my first one, a left handed model 70 Winchester in 400 Whelen. It has become my favorite big game rifle. I have a mold from Accurate Molds which throws a 320 and 400 grain bullet. I haven't done a lot of work with them yet but it likes both weights.

My second is a Sedgley Springfield. It was originally a 30-06 with a rough bore. It's now a 38 Whelen (375 Whelen).

My most recent wildcat, a left handed Charles Daly mini Mauser in 6mmx222. I have a Lyman 245496 for it but haven't had a chance to work on any cast loads yet. The stock is MPI and the barrel is Pacnor. I really like the little mini Mauser action. The action is a bit short for the 6x45 (6x223). Bullets have to be seated really deep to get a 6x45 in the magazine well. The 6x222 seems perfect for the little mini Mauser. plus it's a little unusual.

Have anyone try usen under size 9mm and go with the shortest brass and then down some and then use them in a wheel gun for the 9mm from tarus with a moon clip.Just wanted to use the brass as much as possible is what I trying to do.
You meen like a .38 short? I've seen guys running those setups in icore it's purdy slick makes for fast reloads and no recoil really.
i think they use cut down .38 super or 9 Luger brass.
This is going into a Rem 760, 24 inch barrel as a cast only hunting rifle. Intent was a 35Rem equilivant with a longer neck (like 35 whelen) and available brass. I like heavy for caliber cast with a nice meplat. Parent is 308 winchester, chamber reamer is a 35 Whelen. Uses 35 Whelen dies shortened to form a 2 inch case with the standard Whelen neck. Barrel is a Green Mountain 14 twist, .3575 bore/.361 throat, 24 inches long threaded for Mauser and short chambered to 35 Whelen. I altered dies by shortening .496 and installing a 35 rem expander rod. Formed a master case then faced the barrel to set the case head to match the original barrel for the 760. The case holds 38 gr of AA4064 to the base of the neck, slightly more capacity than the 35 Rem as intended. I have no desire to push the 230 gr NOE past 2000fps so this should be aplenty!
Brass formed easily in a RC press, had to neck ream for the .360 bullet. Did some measuring and found that a 9mm chucking reamer with the case neck held in a 38Special seating die gave a .385 neck dia for the .360 chamber ID. Close nuf for now. The die is "extra" so I can open it if I want to tighten the clearance.
Made up 3 dummies and loaded up a 308 mag. Ran them thru another 760 I have like corn thru a goose, I was concerned about the large meplat, but no problem. Working on the barrel extension tool so should have everything together shortly.... Taking my daughter hog hunting and fishing next month so realistically will be a couple months. Oh well , plenty time before deer season.

yes something like that.I have done it with some short 9mm brass that was under size.

This is the gun I shoot them out of.
Don't no why you can't do it too. 9mm moon clip and really short 9mm brass lots of fun get an eight shot and do the icore! Chamfer the cylinder slick trigger and away you go.
Ok thank you Plate plinker for the advice.
Some more about our 585HE I showed about 15 months ago,
and a companion cartridge called the 24ga FH, It use same
bore barrels and bullets as 585. 24ga FH is 3" brass case,
Where our 585HE is a 3.27" case. The 24ga case is a
rimmed brass case like regular brass shotgun cases.
Works great in break actions.

Anybody running the 7.62x40WT with 150-160 RNFP cast in the 2K fps range? It has the shorter neck and freebore than the BO. Thinking the large case cap. would allow slower powder and keep the base in a longer neck. 7.62x40 'long neck'? Brass is no problem but reaming BO chamber & neck but not freebore might be. Thoughts? I'm running the 144 PB to ~1800, MOA but not much faster. Not much case to get a 170GC up to that fps & GC is below the shoulder. Got some 155 Amax to chrony but they still don't leave much space for powder, mag length problem.
