Well I will be 68 in November, started reloading when Bill & Al were in the white house. Started casting to "save" some bucks when I was shooting USPSA matches and practicing every week. Started casting about 2008. Still setting on a bunch of free ww's, had a good friend that was manager at a big tire store. Thanks Mike!!

I’m 67. I started in shooting sports at about 11 years old, learning and honing that craft. But I began casting sinkers first at about 12 or 13 years old. I had a small 6 cavity sinker mold my father gave me and I made 100’s of them.
A friend of my father, came over one day and saw me making sinkers and simply said you should make bullets too. Well being that young I didn’t even know anyone could make a bullet, but it really make me curious. I talked to that man all afternoon about it.
He came back he next day with a 45 caliber mold, 10 pounds of lead and said here, make me some and lets see how you do.
Same principal applies to both processes, so off I went. Obviously, some of them were good and some quite bad. Not a real problem in sinkers, but bullets....that’s a whole other story.
He taught me the fine tuning of melting lead and adding other metals. AND supplied the metals!
I became his major supplier....and even got paid for it. Can life get any better!
I don’t remember what I earned but I’m sure it was a fortune to a 13 year old.
The one thing that hooked me for life was when he said he was going to check the speed of the bullets when he shot them, with a machine he had. A Chronograph meant nothing to me at all except this had to be some kind of space alien technology. When I saw this bent wire thing and saw the “speed” of a bullet, I couldn’t believe it my eyes.
I’ve been making “boolits” ever since.
The only question I have is a simple one.....where is this man who comes with 10, 20, 30 pounds of lead at a time, every time! Most were wheel weights and real lead. My father owned a Sunoco Station at the time, so lead weights were very plentiful. But I think he hid the new ones from me, because his supply was always in need of resupplying and my boolit supply kept increasing.
Just need to find that guy again with all the metals.

I started casting in my late teens, around 1972/73. I pretty much quit in the early ‘90’s.....getting back into it. I really missed it, but, life got in the way! I’m still far too busy, but have started doing a little casting/shooting! It’s good to be back! memtb

At 59, I feel happy that I am younger than the largest group! That means I still have some growing up to do!

I've been reloading most of my life but at 44 am just now starting to get into casting.

I'm 59 and I've been casting most of my life for all my Muzzleloaders , thinking about casting for my 45 acp and 30-30 .

I started reloading at 17, shot shells, progress to rifles for varmint hunting, then to handguns for competition. I'm 58 now started casting about 10 years ago and powder coating 5 years ago. Where does the time go !?!?

Started loading shotshells at 24, metallic at 47, casting at 55. Will soon be retired at 61 and plan on doing a lot more of it all.

52 here, shooting and reloading since '96, just getting going in the casting game.

My first casting experience was when I was 18. 5000 110 M1 boolits. Cast off and on over the years with buddies. Got serious when I was 60. Don't need to cast more, need to shoot more.

I'll be 81 on 2/10/21 if I make it that far. Been interested in hunting, shooting, etc., since as far back as I can remember. My mother was as anti-gun as they come but my father was an avid hunter. Had my first shotgun when I was 9 and went hunting by myself and killed a few squirrels. Then rabbits, etc. Have been casting since the mid '70s for a variety of handguns and rifles. My latest pursuit (among others) is a semi-auto .243 with a 20" heavy barrel with a fast twist. Probably too fast for cast but I'll find out. Big Boomer

I'm 42, been casting for about 13 years. I can honestly say there is way more interest in reloading and casting now than when I was a kid in the 1980's. I don't know of any of my ancestors that did it, at least not since the days when muzzleloaders were the norm.

51 now; started casting 13 years ago when I had lots of young shooters in the family and a very low budget; now I enjoy casting and reloading almost as much as shooting.

Started in 1963, with a 60 gr 257 for the 25-20 win, Still cast for the 25-20, and many others.
