Welcome to the site. Best advice - follow a good manual!
I use 8.5-9.0 grains (depending on what the measure drops that day) with Berry's superior plated 200 grain in my SW M629 4". I check every 20th round for weight. It's accurate enough for my eyes. I use 10 grains in my 10mm with 200 grain cast as well as 8 grains in my colt SAA 45.I also use it in my 44-40 Uberti 1873 clone. 2400/296/HS-6 for mag loads in 44mag
I tried the 9-1/2grs of Unique from the flask with C309150F in my Krag. 40 yards and the aiming points were hard to see but I'm happy. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f61fed4f35.jpg

Would 10 grains of Unique be a good starting point for a 1876 Uberti Carbine in 45/60
Apologies, I just saw this!! The rear sight is a Redfield 102 K.

Anyone have information on using Unique in a Winchester 1885 50-90?
Jedman. PSI doesn't make the bullet go, force does. Bigger bore, more force. Smaller bore, less force or more psi to get same results.
for years now ive been reading about many saying how great 10 gr of unique is. ive never tried it in rifle, got a bunch of it, but use 4198, 8208, 4895 in cast rifle loads, but haven't used unique since be-86 came out.
what I'm wondering, dont know why, but im wondering if be-86 might be interchangeable with unique in rifle
My 285lb. bear with a .475 Linebaugh revolver and Lee 325gr. GC on top of .......12.2 grains of UNIQUE.
I wonder how unique would work in the 6.5x55 Swede?
I've been using 14 grs of 2400 that seems to work OK.

9.5g of Unique works great with either a Saeco 25-100 #257 or NOE 260-105-FN. Great groups at 100 yards. Some less than 1 inch but most in the 1.5" range.
i have killed 5 or 6 deer with the 44 spl and a Skeeter load of unique.
i got a 7.65x53 ('91 argie) that i have to shoot. i loaded up five cartridges of 10.0gr of unique under a 185gr Lee rn gc just to see if they shoot. i have a 50 yard steel target, so i shoot them, not going for accuracy. i was surprised at the lack of recoil, the boom and the ringing of steel of my first shot. so i did another, another, another and another shot. i was smiling and kicking myself for not having more!!!
Ten grains of Unique under the Lee 200R in the 7.65 Argentine made me look good today….
Resting on the Mule steering wheel, shooting the box 30 yards away.
The range is too sunny so I shot in the shade in the woods. Five shots below the post it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5fa3d6356b.jpg

I usually shoot Black but got lazy when I bought a .38/55 and started using 9.0 Gr. of Unique behind a 255 Gr. bullet. I shoot at 100 & 200 yards with it, but quite honestly do not get great groups. I would like to stay with Smokeless for days I do not feel like cleaning. Is there a consensus on a better Smokeless for distance?
My close range cast bullet deer loads this season are all using 10 grs of Unique.
30-40/170 gr Lee, 38-55/250 gr Lee, and 44/40 with 200gr Lee.
