Just got my order from Smoke today. First time powder coating with ASBB method and so simple to do. Thanks Smoke! Will be placing a follow up order soon for more colors as the lady wants her purple boolits for her 9mm AR pistol.
Attachment 154308For all those who like the 7.62 x 39 as much as I do, Lee's 155 gr, 160 gr. and 185 gr. boolits in Smoke's yellow green. ASBBDT.
I put the gas checks on after the shake and bake using the Lee push through sizer. I really like the aluminum checks over the copper checks when putting on over the pc, as they seem much easier.
Coated about 500 today. Here's a sample..... 480s, 357s and 44s. All in Smoke's orange.

Between me and my wife we shoot around 2000 40 Caliber bullets every three months, the pictures below are of the first bullets made for 2016.
The two pans contain approximately 3000 bullets ready to load.
The bullets are 180 grain, cast with Master Caster, powder coated with .008 roof flashing gas checks installed.
Cast, powder coated and gas checked these bullets over the Thanksgivings holiday.
I also make the gas checks from a gas check maker I also made on my lathe.
Started all of this to save money, funny seem to just shoot more now and spend more money.
Some Lee 429-240 round nosers that cast about 260g with range lead. Super durable wet black from powder by the pound in some new brass, along side my newly acquired SW629 Classic 8-3/8" :bigsmyl2:

My first bullets from a NOE 510-380 RF .. PC'ed with a mixture of Black, Blue, Green and Yellow
This Noe mold drops bullets like water even with the hollow base pins

Some more of Smoke's powder, Signal Blue and Jet Black. I like to call these "Blue Whistler's" (the old timers name for buckshot) and "Black Betty's". ASBBDT has been working great for me. (Have used Smoke's powder exclusively.) PC'ed on rainy days, and no problem, PC'ed boolits that were cold, setting on my outside porch at 40 degrees, no problem. What I found is you have to really shake and spin the boolits. Don't be afraid to hurt them. If I go easy on the shaking, the coating sucks.
Holding the cool whip container vertical and making large circular motions while slowly rotating the container, then do the up and down bump 5 or 6 times, and then maybe a horizontal circular motion 1 or twice and the boolits are coated.
Give then boolits some rock and roll and high speed spins, they don't feel a thing. Give them a 30 second fast ride!
Just for curiousity I tried two coats to see the results. I have to say this is BAD. No need for it in the first place, and the build up of PC coating makes pushing a double coated boolit through the sizer nearly impossible. Double coating a boolit and trying to size could damage sizing equipment, just my opinion.

I have just finished another batch. The old 401 boolits were cast of a softer alloy so I melted them all down. The 30 Cal boolits were sized down too small so I cast another batch. The 30 Cal is NOE310 164 all from the GC side of the mold. The 40 is Lee 401 145 SWC. These are done in Smoke's Signal Blue powder.

I know this is kindergarten level stuff to most of you, but I'm proud of them! Lee tumble lube .452 230 grain truncated cones in Harbor Freight red and black, flanked by Lee tumble lube truncated cone .357 125 grain in HF black on the ends. I coated a couple thousand of the .357 in red but haven't loaded them yet. We're using the HF powder coat gun with what I think are great results!
It may not be a boolit but I did coat this today. Attachment 155360
Windy and kinda rainy today for ESPC, so I did some BBDT's:

First attempts. We will see how they shoot the next time we're out.
First foray into PC. First thing I didn't read I just bought some stuff and failed miserably LOL. Matte Black HF, #1 container, and colt transparent green BB. So, after wasting that money, I read grabbed a #5 container, bought some different bbs from Academy (that have worked for me), and got some HF red. The results are pretty durn good for my first success. I look forward to perfecting the shake and bake method. Have an awesome night all and these pics are amazing.
