After reviewing all of the guesses we have a WINNER! Congratulations Sundog! There are 2970 ingots in that pile and Sundog guessed 2971, missing it by 1. Djones was the next closest with 2968 and Smoke 4320 guessed 2977 way back on the first day. Congratulations Sundog! I'll be sending you a PM for an address to mail the prize. We did not mention a second place but I think we should send Djones a prize for being so close. Thanks Guys!
Congrats fellas! Those were some good guesses.
Thank you all very much for playing congratulations to Sundog!! Djones we'll send you something to!!!
Dang, to late to guess. And 2971 was my guess:bigsmyl2:
Congrats to the winners
Just a word on how we arrived at that number. As we poured the ingots we dumped them onto odd size sheets of plywood to cool and arranged them in even rows. A day would have as many as 7 or 8 stacks of these sheets. At the end of the day we counted them and dumped them on the pallet, writing these numbers on a pad. At the end of the job I added them all up using the calculator on my phone. We got the same number 2 times in a row and also a 3rd time using a calculator with a printed tape, so we're confident with these numbers. You can see these sheets in my smelting picture thread.
Watching your guesses was fun and interesting. I looks like some of you used famous dates, a few used the model numbers of famous rifles and some of you did it mathematically.
Wow that would make bout 90,000, 45 cail boolits.
Hey I’m happy just to be almost close at 2750! Congrats to the winner !
Me to at 2850 I thought I had that one congrats Sundog
I was a total failure at 1200, I was hoping the style points would bring up my score :)
I didn't mean to ignore you, I just didn't want to give away too many clues this close to the end and after so many had already posted guesses. I kept all of the stick on weights, about 700# and 350# of clip ons. A couple of other friends accounted for a few hundred more. We worked parts of 6 days but several of those were only partial days. We had 1 slow day getting set up and a short day at the end, storing everything away and cleaning up. There were always 2 of us working and usually at least 1 more helping. We worked pretty steady but we didn't drive ourselves too hard.
that was an entertaining pole. congrat to the winner.
Thanks lightman& Biggins that was fun to watch. What a haul!
Outstanding to you fellers who put on the contest! & Congrats to the winner(s)!

Thanks again for the fun!

Dang after doing the math I wasn't that far off! I should have subtracted a couple inches for the bare pallet edges!
That was one heck of a lead haul!!
Fun, Congrats to the winners. I missed it by 194. so close and yet so far. Great contest, thanks.
