Ruger GSR, a cast boolit load, and a tactical rifle match
Thought I would give an update on the match I shot. The load I came up with worked like magic with no issues and no leading after over 80 rounds fired and no cleaning. I had probably ran 120 to 130 rounds of my chosen load through the gun by the end of the match, as I did not clean it from my last practice session.
Recoil was negligible and accuracy was great all the way out to 200 meters. The rifle/load combo allowed me to finish dead middle of the pack competing with AR15s and A Mini 14. No one else wanted to shoot a bolt gun on the course, and being the only bolt action shooter allowed me to win my class handily :-P.
Oh, I also had a chance to run a few rounds of this load over my chrony. Velocity for 5 rounds averaged 2089 FPS. I'm going to cast a few hundred of these boolits and see if I can't load up a few hundred rounds for the summer.
Ruger GSR and cast boolits
Prayers for a quick recovery Bruce,
I would be very interested in hearing how your similiar load does in your GSR.
Also, does AA5744 give you issues metering from your powder measure? My RCBS will bridge and can vary as much a 1/2 grain while in use. Slows me down some, but, I can live with it as well as this load shoots.
Take care and get well.
