Yep, not up yet, but be a month if that. We are going to replant as many as we can.
Ramps are hard to find in New England. But I did manage to find a few in Madison
CT a few years ago. I dug up a bunch and saved as much roots/dirt and planted
them in RI. Shady damp area, but they never took. So I'm back to searching for
a new crop. Any hints how to get them to grow? I planted in damp shady soil
similar to what they were growing in in CT.
Looking forward to them here, won't be too long now if it would just stop snowing and warm up for a while.
Wish I could find some here in Mn.
We have a location that is packed with them.
I have no idea what they are.

Yum. Taters, eggs, cornbread, soup beans, side meat, bacon, and what ever else gets fixed. We usually do a ramp dinner on a Saturday afternoon at our church. Plentiful here in WNC.

When Chuck S linked and I discovered they are basically "Wild Onions"; I said to myself - "Ohhh!" Been eating those since I was able to walk and went out with the Great Grandmothers and Grandmothers to collect "Wild Spring" greens including the wild onions, Pig Weed, and....
I’m lucky here where I live and hunt. Both of my places to hunt in WNY and our Southern Tier have all you could ever want. I can get all I want in late April and early May. You can actually smell them just walking through the woods or along the banks of a nearby trout stream. Won’t be long.
My old granny would get a bag full of stuff she would gather from the neighborhood and cook it up, She would always pour super hot bacon grease on it. I think It was poke and god knows what. Good eaten. It did have a garlic and onion flavor to it!
I didn't know what ramps were until I saw them in a Barnwood Builders episode. I've seen them used on a couple cooking shows. I love no idea if the grow around here or not.
Just ate some for lunch. Soup beans, corn bread (not sweet jiffy mix), taters&ramps, eggs &ramps, no streaked meat, side meat, or good bacon though.
Ours are not growing much yet. Going to take a walk tomorrow and see what I find.
