All sorts of different scenarios of disaster brought up in this forum. I tend to think a semi-short term (6 months- 2 yr) event is a pretty likely scenario. Maybe natural; maybe supply-chain; maybe regional, maybe not violent. Lots of preps ideas posted here for everything. And I agree with the thinking that we won't go back into the dark ages no matter what happens (short of extinction!).
Does rugged footwear, maybe socks, clothing become something deserving current consideration? Not talking about robbing from corpses - more like making it yourself. Is it a skill set that's learned when needed?

if I really had to, I could cobble shoes from old tires like they do over in asia but its far easier to just stock a couple of pairs of boots right now. I usually get 2 or 3 years out of a pair so 2 pair should make it through the zombie apocalypses.

yesterday I noticed part of the sole on my favorite danners is getting a bit funky, might be time to start wearing Red Wings.
a good pair of boots will last years, just be prepared and get a spare pair.
scenarios of disaster are way overblown in my opinion. are we civilized or not?

Civilized? Becoming less so each day, from reading the news.

Your boots will last longer if they get to air out. Use two pairs and alternate which pair you wear.
