I am looking for any older loading charts for MEC loaders. I have a lot of MEC's: 310, 400, 500, 600, Versa MEC, Hydra-MEC, Sizemaster SM77, also have a Super Sizer SS77. Looking for charts that give loads and pressures for felt wads not plastic wads. First started loading around the late 1960's while in the Navy.

Only data like that I've seen is in the old Lyman manuals. Never saw it in the MEC pamphlets./beagle
I was just sent a 1966 Alcan loading manual that has a small section on wads and wad pressures. It states that the values are only valid on Alcan components.
It is a fairly large file. It was originally on the Castpics website, perhaps it can show back up there. I don't think there is any way to post it here. It's 23 pages of scanned manual.
I think the only way to move it is to email a copy directly to you.
The only MEC data I've seen was post-1980. The only one I have on the shelf is a steel shot manual from the 90's. I do have some data you can use though. The Lyman shotshell #1 has some, but most of the powders and primers are discontinued. There might be something in there. I also have a newer Tom Roster manual that has an "eco" section. I can even provide some buffered load data for such things. I found a real decent bismuth load for ducks if interested. What are you looking to load? List what hulls you have available, and type of load, 1 1/8oz trap, 1 1/4 oz field, 1 1/2oz buffered etc.
I am loading 00 buck, #4 & #5 lead shot 1oz to 1 1/4oz, may try some Lyman slugs if my buddy ever gets around to casting them again. I have several powders but like black powder the best. As hulls go have 1000's of once fired pickups from a range I worked at for several years. Have went through most of the old style AA's though. 4-5 times with black burns them beyond use. Don't get holes in the case as much as the crimp area has to be trimmed as it gets brittle.
3 Charman boxes (3'x3'x3') full at one time. I have moved to many times over the years and lost my old Load Log for shotgun I keep when I started loading for my shotgun shooting.

You don't need load data for blackpowder. It's impossible to make an unsafe load with a shotshell.
I'm looking through the Lyman shotshell #1, and all buckshot data is with SR4756 or SR7625. If you have either of those, let me know.
In the same manual, a few loads are listed for lead shot. The following are some listed, however, primers and powders are discontinued. I'm only going to list the ones I think you have a snowballs chance of having powder for. I have no idea what you should do for an Alcan primer. Most of these primers I've never even heard of. If you have Federal 209's great, otherwise a CCI 209 works well. All are 2 3/4" 12 gauge since you did not specify otherwise. An equal weight of buckshot is safe to substitute.

There are no loads listed for slugs without plastic. My newer manuals only show for bismuth shot. There might be more, but I have to get going now.

The Rem SP hull above is the old style with a fibrous composition basewad and a smaller primer socket than current 209 primer size. There was a Rem 57, a CCI 157 & Alcan G57F - the last one being "hotter" than the other two.Quote:

I would also like to have a copy of the PDF as I have 2 older Model 400 presses in 12 and 16 gauge and several charge bars and have been unable to find any load ifo for them. MEC was no help at all. james

If anybody else wants a copy of the Alcan manual, PM your email to me, I don't see any way to attach it to a PM or to do an email with an attachment from the forum.
It really is a cool bit of reloading history. The first half is combination sales brochure and instruction manual.
Last page has some pistol loading data for Alcan powders. Limited but enough that I'll be able to burn up the Alcan 7 and 8 that I have.
And I'd love a copy of the stuff warren5421 has, and I know he already has my email address.

Got tooooooo many user names and passwords to remember now.
And on that note, I'm going to stuff some 12 gauge 3/4 oz. #9 skeet loads while I watch Susan Hayward and Clark Gable.

I just gave away 300 Remington 57's. I didn't have the old style hulls and my buddy has a batch of unfired Remington hulls to burn them up in.Quote:

Came across some paper hulls the neighbor had,, he is 93, he gave me 4 to try. Loaded 1 oz of 7 1/2 and equal amount of FFg Goex, shot both in a Stevens 311 double, hulls left the brass both barrels. I won't be buying them off him.
While they were available I bought adjustable charge bars for my MEC loaders. They have a knurled knob on each end that turns to adjust for the shot and powder charge weight. Wish I could find one today for my new to me 20ga setup.
There's one on eBay now.
