So finally got around to downloading the forms , filling out notary stamped and sent in , but being as how I live in the socialist utopia of inslee/seattle AKA Washington state , I have to have it sent to a FFL , and no where does the CMP have the dealers information space other then the ship to address .
Anyone here done this from this state ? or what are your experiences on your purchases ? thanks for any information .
Go find an FFL that will play and receive then send a copy of the license with forms.
Exactly right. Make sure that the receiving FFL tells them that he is receiving it for you (name) so they can put 2 and 2 together.

I have a FFL who does my transfers , he is away on vacation , I will have him send forms as I am sure he has done this before or whatever CMP advises .
Is it for an M-1 Garand? Oh, you're going to be such a happy camper. Wonderful rifle to own and shoot. A bit heavy.

This is for a pair of M1 Garands , I shoot one that dates to september of 1941 , and have gave my son 1 and my son in law 1 , also my father who is 92 has 1 I gave him years ago , as after Korea in 50-51 he no longer had one as his remained at the front when he was rotated home .
I do enjoy shooting mine , went to the last Garand match at the range a few weeks ago , turnout was poor only 3 of us shooting , And I shot my only other match back in 2013 but never got around to submitting paperwork and a order .
Shot a pair of maggies drawers as I shot the target to the left twice , darn eyes and shooting glasses looking into the sun , was hoping for a better turn out , but posting it on here in a thread and mentioning it to several people brought no turn out .
So time to get off my duff and get it done as I have 3 young children and should provide them each with their own as they reach a proper age do not want them to go without the necessary and proper instrument and of course the accoutrements to match .
Anyway paperwork is sent to get the waiting started , FFL will be called after he is back , kind of like ordering from Shiloh get it started so the clock starts ticking .
Because you have to be a member of an affiliated club to buy from the (or the CMP has changed the rules since last fall) you might want to ask that question around the club for other guys who have purchased and how they handled it.Quote:

Michigan apparently doesn't have as many silly rules to deal with as you do.

Club is more of a membership range , really only club activity is yearly meeting canceled do to covid , and the shooting matches .
It is an affiliated club so I meet all the requirements , I included a letter with paperwork and used the contact email for the CMP , no reply from them and it is a few days after 4th till the FFL is back and open again .
No rush there as CMP is saying 12 weeks from order submission to shipment anyway , I was curious on those who had done it and their experiences .
Thanks guys. Learned something in that you can join their Garand collectors association which counts toward a membership.

Got my Garand from the CMP then called the DCM back in the 70's. $119.00 shipped to my home in MA. Got it by my gun club that ran a match per month. Came with a NM barrel. The good old days

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. In 1981, when I lived in Salem, NH, I got a Garand from DCM for $119.00 delivered to my door. She was 3million+ rebarreled in 6/67 and I still have the "capture papers." Also unopened is the goodies pack of sling, combo tool and cleaning kit. Neither of my kids want his Garand.
I am a firearms instructor at my gun club and have a person in mind who will appreciate what is long gone...

Mine cost me $156. It was an 18 month wait and it came from Anniston. That rifle is sitting in my safe right now. I have a number of CMP rifles, but I didn't have to wait for them. It's a 2 hour drive for me to Camp Perry, so I go and pick out my own and bring them home with me! Now don't be jealous!

Aaah, yes...the 'good ol' days'. Got my '43 Winchester thru DCM in 1984. Don't remember the exact price but it came direct from Anniston and, except for the wood, had been completely rearsenaled...new barrel, new op rod, fresh parkerize finish, etc...in August of 1966 and never reissued. Still goes to the range a few times a year.
