Looks entirely practical for bird hunting over dogs, solving two problems at once. One tool to call your dog back and extract a recalcitrant shell (probably paper) from your shotgun. What’s not to like about that? :mrgreen:

Yes Froggie, I wish I was out in the field using it just like you describe. It did sell for $317.00. I didn't bid as I thought it would be expensive. The old stuff still sells strong.

JW, what I do in a case like that is make my own substitute for about a buck-two-ninety-eight if I really want/need one. Right now, I don’t have a bird dog and my extractor lifts the empties from my OU 20 ga very well, so I just saved $317.00! :bigsmyl2:

Europeans and the British made shell extractors, shell extractor whistles, and shell extractor knives, all to help remove wet, swollen shotshells. The knives are particularly fascinating:
