Win large pistol primers
I purchased 1000 Win LP primers and prepared to load a batch of 45 Colt on my Dillon 550 the primer would not seat all the way into the case. They were packaged in the new style red white and black box. Has any one else had any experience with these new primers.

Sounds like they could be mislabeled LR primers instead, I believe those are a bit taller than LPs.

The primers measured the same as Fed LPP

At that point I would see the brass as being suspect. Is it new brass? 10x fired ? Gotta start somewhere!

The dillon may not have enought leverage to seat fully. I use an RCBS Ram Prime on a single stage press.
Pockes out of speck? Measure depth with RCBS Dial caliber.

Thanks for chart! Already stolen and filed in reference file GW

I saw these the other day and I was curious about the packaging.....I though the old ones said " For standard and magnum large pistol loads" meaning 45 ACP and 44 mag loads...Im still curious about that with the new packaging....maybe a primer pocket uniformer tool would help with depth ??

Have you checked the primer ram for proper seating depth?

I figured out my problem, just old age not adjusting the press properly

I had fits with one of my 550s one day. Same thing, every primer was about .005 from being flush or below. No matter how hard I pushed it wouldn't seat and the primer wouldn't be deformed any. Long story short, check the 2 screws holding the cartridge guide on. One of mine backed out slightly and wouldn't allow full travel.

Ain't it the truth? How many problems get resolved by tightening a loose screw or a good cleaning?

Most times I think it’s the worst thing possible gone wrong and usually it’s the simplest thing to fix or adjust depending on the issue.
