I recently got a good supply of wheel weights from a fantastic local tire shop owner, mostly lead but a good chunk of them are zinc as well. I've read up enough to not go down the zinc boolit rabbit hole but I was wondering if there are any other uses for this zinc aside from scrapping it. Thanks for the help gang!
I smelt mine into ingots. Scrap value around here is about $0.35/lb.......just about the value of scrap wheel weights :)

Is zinc hard on aluminum molds?
I've got a cat litter bucket full of zinc wheel weights. I've been looking for a use for them myself. I though about making some sand or plaster molds and casting decorative items.

I've been reading up on zinc and it seems like a lot of people like to make jewelry and other artistic molds with it. Maybe it doesn't get the blood pumping like shooting but a pretty good use for what would otherwise be scrap.Quote:
