12 GA Black powder loads
I am in the process of finding a load I like for a 120 year old SXS with Twist laminated barrels. I am using home made powder. also have used Pyrodex. 60 grains of powder pushing 1 OZ of 7 1/2 is about as far as I have went with it so far. feels like there is plenty of room for more powder, but I obviously dont want to over do it. What are some of your proven loads for Laminated barrels? Intentions are to bust a few clays and take a few squirrels with it this fall.

I use 72.0 Grs. FFG behind 1 1/8 oz. out of my Ithaca Lewis 12 gauge with Damascus barrels. I load this in Federal PAPER cases, because they do not burn through as fast as the plastic ones do.Attachment 282740

I have mentioned this article by Ross Seyfried, Black Powder Shotshell Loading, several times on similar inquiries. It is one of the few sources of pressure tested black powder shotshell loads. The ballistic performance of black powder shotshells at such low pressure levels is surprising, if not shocking, to nitro powder sensibilities!
That said, here are the links:

Given the tenuous nature of many such articles on the internet, I would suggest downloading, or better yet, printing these for future reference.

Thanks guys, I’ll look at those links. I searched all over and found not much. Certainly is appreciated!
