    It's more work but thin-walled barrels can be swaged up for choke tubes. It was very common at one time. Stan Baker did one for me in the mid 80's by belling out the last couple inches of the barrel and threading it for his custom Winchoke...

    Water does not break BP down. BP that has been underwater for a very long time can be dried and used. If the ball or shot has been removed any reason to not just fire it?
