I gave it a thought, as I really like it in the 9mm and keep it on hand. But I am also very cautious with Red Dot, as I have heard it likes to spike in pressure a bit more than other powders. And because of this is no longer recommended in a lot...

Kosh, thanks for the reply, and the pointer. I've never read up on BE-86, and none of my manuals list it I do not believe. I just took a look at the Alliant website, and found they have the data for it. I will look into this, it may be the route...

I've been working up some loads with the MP Molds 357-125-HP using the Penta Pins in my 38spl revolvers. These are sized to .358" after powder coating. So far I have experience excellent accuracy from this boolit in everything I've fired it in. ...

Thats awesome work! I've never been able to get there with cast in rifles, but I have gotten to under an inch in pistols out to 25yds. But my eyes ain't what they used to be, so I doubt I'll get there again.

I've just found that there isn't a whole lot that it can do that other powders can't. 2400 and Unique are almost "universal powders", they can be used in so many applications. So I find H110 to just not have enough versatility for my liking. I...

Nice video. Your load seems accurate enough, but I'm not sure I'd consider that an adequate self defense loading. But more than well enough for critters. Thanks for sharing.

Well, WC844 is roughly equivalent to H335. So I could always switch to that as well. However, I have some loads worked up with 1200R which worked very well. What I liked about WC844 was the price, being a surplus/pulldown powder and whatnot. It...

Correction, Fred. I got ahead of myself and misspoke(typed). It's 4.3gr of Red Dot under the 115gr FMJ. I think the max load data I have is 4.5gr of Red Dot going off of memory. It fills the case quite nicely, with the base of the bullet...

Never heard of that one before. Had to look it up, I have to say I've never seen one in the wild. But looks like a larger version of the 358242.

Some pistol loads are well known to be best compressed. H110 comes to mind in the .357mag. Never heard of shooting compressed shotshell loads. But then again, I don't shoot shot shells in my pistols. So I'm not up to snuff on the modern doings...

I have found that in 9mm I have to go .002-3 over to even stand a chance at not leading. So much so I threw away my 0.356 sizer. But most of the time 0.001-2 works for me. Never tried any at exactly bore diameter.

Pertaining to powder, I've got a keg of BE that has $189 marked on it. So I don't consider the $228 to be TOO high. Higher than I'd like to pay, but within reason... If 8lb kegs of typical pistol powders get get to the +/- $200 range, I don't...

crashdummy, I don't have any jacketed pills, but I do have one of the original Ranch Dog 190gr Molds. This is an older Lee Mold, and if I remember correctly it dropped just a hair undersize. But powder coated it should work out just fine. If...

I bought my FA-83 in early 1984. It is chambered for a 454 Casull and since I had my gunshop at the time I had them fit it with a tungsten insert in the forcing cone (no longer available). I have killed over 141 animals with it and my records...

That's what I hear. And about where I would expect to load it. Current load for J-Words at 115gr is 4.3gr of Unique, which is just 0.2gr shy of max for the data I have. I don't have a Chrony, so I have no idea how fast they're shooting. But it...

That’s only 0.3gr short of the Lyman load for the 358242. And almost a full grain shy of old Lyman load. Though it’s 0.7gr higher than the Lyman load for the Lee 125gr RF. Good to know for my 357-125-HP load though. I have some room to move up if...

I did not know about this. I do like the Fiocchi brand, especially their loaded 380acp ammo. But I would welcome their primers if they come at a decent price. And Little Rock isn't too far away, so maybe we'll see an influx of them in the Tulsa...

Certainly you pay a little of premium for any metal. I just bought some 1oz silver rounds the other day for $1 over spot, so don't tell me it can't be done. And I regularly buy lead for around <$0.50 over spot on the pound. That said, it's not...
