No need. The farm across the road has 100 chickens and we get all we need for eggs and meat birds. Organic, too. The girls are on strike now but they should start back up soon.

We didn't get anything except rain here in central Arkansas. It started about noon yesterday and rained until the wee hours of this morning. The Wife and I were out for a little while yesterday afternoon and saw a little sleet hitting the...

lightman replied to a thread Emergency Home Generator in Our Town
When I retired in 2015 I bought a 22KW Generac with an automatic transfer switch. Natural gas was available and was very dependable so thats what I went with. If there were any issues with natural gas I would have gone with propane and a 500 gallon...

If anything it will be easier to use. You will notice that its heavier. Like the others, I've never had a bad RCBS mold and I have several. But being steel it can rust so you will ned to protect it some way. I spray mine with whatever I use on my...

The different kinds of type that I have melted required more heat and work than some other things that I have melted. Much like your experience. I have left most of mine in its original form so that when my survivors go to sell it the buyer can...

lightman replied to a thread Weight variation in Cast Boolits
I'm going to say that is pretty good. I see .3 of a grain pretty often with my lighter pistol bullets. Some of this can be skill but it also depends on the mold. All molds don't drop the same weight or diameter of bullet from each cavity.

That was my first thoughts too! I know that by definition "smelting" is not the correct term for what we do with scrap lead but its the term that I use. I expect that most casters know what I'm talking about when I use it.

I bought three of them from you back in the day. I still have two of them and I use them. I wore one out. i THINK I paid something like $5 each plus shipping. Too bad the mould died along the path to many members.

All of that makes sense with the helicopter blades. The guys on here find so many different lead items I just don'r remember any blade weights. I've also used coins or washers to balance ceiling fans.

Like Winger Ed said, it depends. I figure around a 12% loss due to clips. It can be more if the bucket has broken lug bolts, brake pads, valve stems, ect mixed in. My 12% number was for clean weights before and after smelting. If I flux well and the...

The H&G 68 is a classic and like the others have said, every mold maker makes one in their version. I have an original H&G and a 2 cavity RCBS. Both make fine bullets.
