This post was originally about revolvers, but since you mentioned the Ruger MK pistols, I had a MKII with a bull barrel, which was absolutely the most accurate gun I've ever seen. It shot like a laser. Too heavy to carry though, a great range gun.

My 4" 617 has been my go to for a very long time. I bet I would like a 6" as well, but have no experience. I've had a number of ruger .22 revolvers and never got what I thought was good accuracy. They never seem to stay around for too long.

I love small bore black powder rifles. I've simply never had more fun than in the squirrel woods with a flintlock. Cant wait to see pics. It will be all the better as you finish it to your liking. Good luck.

That is too bad for such a cool little platform. Is it just this repro that is tough to keep running, or is the older action just not made for todays hot stuff?

Me... 7x30, only because I have no experience with the others you listed, and I know it will get the job done. Not very much help to you, is it? Pick one and run, don't make it harder than it has to be.

I appreciate your knowledge in this area. With that said, I think I'll pass on this gun. I really don't need another project, and am generally not fond of machinery that doesn't hold up well. That's too bad, really. Neat little gun. If you are...

I just got a chance to shoot a very nice Uberti rolling block pistol today in .357. I had never seen one before and it shot very well. I am no stranger to single shots, and they don't scare me at all. This fella wants to sell it to me... It's got...

I would just like to say, Great Video! Though I know this probably won't count as a meaningful post, I'm just trying to be supportive of a fellow black powder enthusiast.

Not that I've done extensive testing, but I use modified chokes with steel shot, which I am led to believe works as a full choke with steel. I havent experienced any problems with my old H&R modified choked 12 ga. Given the choice, I'd go modified.

I just sold a Puma 92 in 16" 44mag. I personally have never shot it, but it was a tight little used gun, and the action and trigger was pretty smooth. It was quite a treat to carry. If I still needed a little powerhouse to carry around, I surely...

I have that rifle and would buy another. Mine is old, and been handed down, and does have aperture sights. It shoots lights out, and I mean that. Lights out on squirrels anyway. Buy it, whats better than another .22?

A good lesson to have stocked up a while ago when given the chance. I have more than I'll ever go through. I'm sure. In trying to make this most meaningful, I would say to buy it whenever you see it at a reasonable price. I know this has been...

It is really not that big of a deal to take a file to it. Obviously go slow, and shoot in between. What could be better than more shooting and POI moving in the right direction? If you are not that skilled with a file, I'd practice a little bit...

Sound and serviceable. What more can you ask for. If going flint, I would definitley spend more for a quality lock. In percussion you should be good to go. Clean it thoroughly.

I personally wouldn't trust a washer as a seal, but it should work. I think you are better off using a replacement drum and drill it with a jig once installed.
