Looks awfully appealing. If I were in the market for a semi-auto, I would be seriously tempted.... Maybe someday, after I get my hands on an 8-hole Redhawk in 357....

There is a difference between critical security updates and what they sometimes called "feature updates" like 20H1. I believe your metered connection WILL keep your PC from downloading feature updates, which are much larger than the tiny security...

Well... I guess you can lead a horse to water... Glad your dies work for you, I hope you never have to deal with the same problem I encountered. EDIT: I will say, I don't believe that the Redding die is defective, simply unsuited to the...

So... let me describe the order of physical events. Cases are sized, primed, flared, and charged. Bullet is hand-seated, part of which is verifying it is started smoothly and easily into the case. Ram is raised and case begins to enter the...

Well... no... lol. Well said. On the other hand, the older I get, the more I realize that sometimes more is just more. If something smaller, lighter, easier, and cheaper can achieve the required results, then there is no virtue in something...

I suspect that you didn't read the entire thread. I did exactly what you describe, believing that my adjustments and usage were the problem. I always suspect myself as the weak link in a process, and that is often correct. However, in this case I...

I have always thought of 22LR as acceptable under some circumstances because I never imagined relying on a single hit. If you break into my bedroom, you are getting a full mag dump from the 22 rifle in my wife's hands at the least. You might get...

I am still exploring loads, but I am very like the OP in that my needs aren't demanding. 100 yards, offhand only... I don't need tack drivers. I picked a straight walled case to play with specifically because it means much of the fiddly stuff...

I am happy to report that the 44 mag seating die arrived and I was able to crank out my first 100 rounds without a single problem. Everything worked perfectly! EDIT: Did a few hundred more rounds yesterday evening and I'm happy to report that...

Ryanmattes is correct, they're barn quilts. I assume they're made of different material than normal quilts, but they do look the same! No special meaning that I know of, they're for decoration.

I don't have anything NEARLY as impressive as all of that stuff, but I did make a stir stick for molten alloy. Big nail + twine + polyurethane dip. So far so good, and doesn't seem to mind getting hot!

I actually tried that and it didn't work. The big problem for me turned out to be a super tight ID on my Redding seating die that pushed the case mouth back in.

Another vote for powder coat. If your wife isn't looking, you just need a silicone baking pad, an old sour cream container, some plastic BBs, and the powder itself.

The biggest frustration I have encountered during my entire learning experience with casting has been lead and powder coat shaving off during the boolit seating process. Since lead needs to be a bit bigger than jacketed, some dies just aren't the...

As long as each boolit has a reasonable meplat, they will both do just fine. I would figure out which one is the most accurate with a full power load and go with that.

I have a separate decapping die I use sometimes, so that isn't an assumption for me. The thought behind not sizing is similar to the reasons some folks only neck size rifle cartridges: when used in a specific gun, you can sometimes achieve a...

Like most of the modern cartridges released lately, 6mm Arc is built around heavy-for-caliber bullets with good BCs. For someone who is shooting Prarie dogs at 250 yards, the difference between that and 223 isn't worth writing home about, but the...

I am definitely flaring enough, I considered that possibility and even bought a Lyman M-die to see if that would help and it didn't. "Pushes the case back in" doesn't actually refer to crimping. The main non-crimping inner diameter (so...
