Yep, those heel bullets are really the right way to do it. since there's no parallel in the neck if you want to use smokeless you need some way of stopping the bullet. Accurate Molds has a design very similar to this that is probably the best way to...

You are right about that. I can't remember ever using a pin gauge to check this barrel but it's obviously a bit bigger than any of my other 45s because it's the only one I can load this ball/patch combo into easily. It's just amazing, you give a...

I know you want verifiable data, I don't have that but I do have an anecdote if that is worth anything. When I started shooting silhouette with a Contender 22 hornet, I too had a pound of 4198 for some reason, and a RCBS 55 gr mould. It didn't take...

Got to like results like that! These rifles can be exceptionally accurate if the bores are still in good shape and they get fed good ammo as you have shown. I have never shot mine with smokeless powder, guess I need to try that some day. I agree 777...

Thank you for the additional post. That is certainly a rifle worth having. Good luck making ammo for it, that shouldn't be a problem with the tools you have available.

Either from laziness or habit, I had always used .440" balls in 45 caliber guns. They worked great in everything except an old single trigger Cherokee I picked up about 10 years ago. No matter what I tried I just couldn't get it to shoot very well....

Yes, single shot. The rounds are too long to feed. I slugged the bore, found out what the groove diameter is, and cut the cases off to the right length to accept a bullet that size. I don't know what the cases are supposed to be, 38mm I suppose, I...

I would measure the throat and the ID of a fired case and use that to guide you as to what the patched diameter needs to be. The less you can make it bump up the better it will shoot. And if it is about the same length and shape as the original...

However much FFg that fits is my load. Bullet is a 350 grain slick paper patched to .433". I think it ends up around 50 grains but it's been a while since I loaded any. Super accurate at any rate and hits to the sights out to 700M.

My rifle won't chamber a cartridge formed from 348, it's too tight right by the rim. If yours will then you are good to go. Used to be, the Lebel cases were considerably cheaper as well but I don't know now.

Isn't a standard 10 gauge load 4 drams of powder and 1 1/2 oz shot? And I would use Fg.

You are thinking of 303 Guy but what you propose will work. 7mm is great for patching as you can use normal 270 bullets and just wrap them. A little JB bore paste used as patch lube will speed up the process. The more you shoot the better the barrel...

Your first post said you ordered a .373" throating reamer. I hope that is not the case, you want a .376" throating reamer then run it in as far as you think to fit your round. Weatherby spec might be .373" long, but not the diameter. Hopefully your...

4227 and 10B101 (equivalent to blue dot) are my go-to duplex powders any more. Faster gives pressure spikes and slower doesn't do what you want it to do.
