I have reshaped a few and turned super uncomfortable muzzlestuffers into pleasant shooters. My style is first to install a kinda vintage lookin leather lace up pad. This is twosome important. First off it adds an inch to the LOP. Also if you need...

It made pretty fast powder that fouled a lot. Great for fireworks lift powder and to press rocket motors, less than optimal for firearm use.

Yep this is the puzzle for me too. It is why I have doubts about air gaps between powder n bullet. Be nice to narrow down exactly what causes injury to our firearms.

Again interesting. I know that using a wad or multiple loads that cause a barrel obstruction will damage barrels. Original question was meant to ask if just an air gap without wads of any kind have caused hate and discontent. Such as a charge of...

What he said. They're easy to make if you have a lathe and that way you have the original too. Don't try to make the threads. Just drill and tap it and jam a screw in there then cut the head off.

There is a reason those weren't very popular and only made for a short time. I always thought they should have made a 45 version.

I normally compress with the bullet about 1/8" or so. Powder charge is adjusted so it's not so much the bullet starts getting mashed but enough to give at least a little compression and fine tune between those amounts for best accuracy. You could...

In my Marlin, 3118 would shoot great with black powder but not too well with smokeless until I started using filler. A light load of 2400 (don't remember how much now but a bit less than normal starting loads in the books) with BPI granular...

Recently I've been playing with a mix of equal parts by weight beeswax and soy wax plus 20% of that total of ester based 2 stroke oil. It's very similar in feel to gatofeo #1 and has been working great in cartridge rifles and as a lube for shotgun...

Black MZ wasn't too bad but I don't think they make it any more. I guess for price vs availability vs performance I would go with T7 if I had to use a substitute.

It did exactly what you would expect. Good to see that black powder still works. A long time ago I figured out that 45-90 bullet worked well in my Marlin 1894 with it's very large chamber. It shoots well, hits hard, and minimizes blowback since...
