Not if they are paper patched. Trying that without the patch was kind of comical, those long skinny boolets were breaking in half from the very fast twist of the '96. Apparently the nose started rotating before the base could catch up. It took a...

Remember a .22 doesn't have throats. Since it uses outside lubricated bullets the chambers are the same diameter all the way through. If it is throwing flyers in one or more chambers, check the locking notches and make sure the bolt drops in...

4831 is still on the fast side. WC872 is more like it. I was not able to break 2000 fps with any kind of accuracy in my '96 Mauser until I started paper patching the bullets, now equaling the military load ballistics is easy with the PP bullets...

I dunno. They do have different part numbers for #1 and #3 ejectors but after working on plenty of them for the last 20 years I have not seen any difference between the two. I have a big box of them at the shop and just use whatever one fits the rim...

I have shot a fair number of those NOE #358009 in my rifle. Built on a long Remington so no problem with overall length. 1:14 barrel, they shot great over 3031 and 7383. That length thing is going to be an issue for most rifles though, either you'll...

If you don't want to do the sand routine, Permalyn filler works well. I often sand in the wipe on poly from Home Depot, that works also but you do need to sand it in to completely fill the pores.

I shoot this one in my 38-55 H&R. http://accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=36-275P Says it's 1.160" long. The rifle has a 1:18 twist and it performs very well.

BP makes a lot more recoil in 45 Colt than smokeless does. My own SAA does the same thing except displaced vertically. The windage thing probably is your hold. I've learned that you can sight it for BP or for smokeless but not both without...

I finally figured out what happened. This has been perplexing me so I kept looking, evidently I was originally looking at a British web site. They did indeed outlaw coal and wet wood (?) for residential heating in 2021. But that hasn't happened in...

When you fire cylindrical bullets in a Whitworth they need to be pure lead to bump up. Advantage of hex bullets is they can be significantly harder since they fit already.

With properly annealed cartridge cases, the chamber is sealed and no fouling gets into the action. Cleaning a '92 after shooting black is way easier than doing it after firing with smokeless. Wet patch, dry patch, oil patch, and you're done.

From what I read, coal for residential heat was outlawed at the federal level just a few years ago. Since I'll be living on the edge of coal country it looked like a good option until I discovered that.

For something different, I'm planning on building a rocket mass heater in my new shop. Cheap to build, but a lot of labor. Weighs about 6,000 pounds so you need to be on a good slab. It runs on wood which I have in abundance in WV, and it should...

They are spring loaded and floating so it only takes three different sizes to work on pretty much any available case. As an example I am using a 223 one in my 30 Badger rifle, with it's rimmed 38 spl based case. I think my 45-70 one has an extractor...

It's been 30 years since I was playing with that, sorry not much other info. I'd just drop the charge by 10% or so to work up and see what is the most accurate. Can't hurt yourself with the 38-55 and that powder, it's safe with a full case using...

Mk42Gunner is right on, lots of 8mm molds out there that will work. Most 32 spl rifles will take a bigger bullet than .321" so you have many options. In mine I normally use a fat 30 cal bullet of .314" or so and paper patch it. They come out to...

If your rifle is strong enough you can use a 100% load of it under either of those bullets. I shot quite a bit of it through my Browning 1885 highwall with good accuracy and fairly significant velocity, around 1800 fps if I remember correctly.
