If the barrel is .357, you will probably need a .359 or thereabout bullet diameter. I would look at 180 gr. bullets for a rifle.

Blacken the case and bullet with a sharpie and see where the contact is. One you know that you can address the cause.

Rule of thumb, Brinnell two points higher than velocity. Example, 1200 fps, 14 Bn, 1400 fps, 16 Bn, etc.

Yes, I am at the top of the state. Once it reached me it was just wind and a steady medium rain. My damage was limited to leaves / branches on the ground as well as a pool full of leaves.

With pure lead or 40-1 I am not sure point shape plays a significant role since expansion tends to be very good above 1,200 FPS. Even at 900 FPS I got good expansion with 40-1 with a Lyman 454190 out of a 7 1/2 Colt 1873 on deer.

Concur. #1’s have a factory one piece rail which has integral dovetails for scope rings. #3’s have no rail but are drilled & tapped at different diameters of the barrel therefore requiring different height scope bases.

Ruger #3 scope bases are different front & rear. If you have the correct scope bases installed correctly - taller one in front and shorter one in the rear then any scope rings will work. I have #3ís in 22 Hornet, 22 TCM (Re-barreled .223),...

Tyrants use the force of the people to chain and subjugate-that is, enyoke the people. They then plough with them as men do with oxen yoked. Thus the spirit of liberty and innovation is reduced by bayonets, and principles are struck dumb by cannon shot: Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma
